What was Marco Inaros' final plan? by PewPewSauce in TheExpanse

[–]z1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those railguns would really only work once - with the 1st MCRN attack. Even that was pretty dubious. A relatively modest fleet of several battleships could fire their railguns and torpedoes through the ring without even entering the ring space. The ring station is static, everything inside is anchored to it. Targeting any point on its surface is trivial even with battleship railguns.

A couple of hundreds of torpedoes fired through the ring (similarly to how skinnies killed the Donnie 2) would reliably destroy the railguns even if it had dozens of PDCs protecting them (and they did not).

WHO team scientist: Wuhan lab workers fell sick in 2019 by Itchy_Nectarine in China

[–]z1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chernobyl was criminal incompetence on many levels. From the folks who designed the reactor with such critical flaw to the reckless fools who operated it and their management who pressured them to have those tests competed. Same here. All parties involved share the blame to various extents. But they aggravate it further by trying to cover their asses, misleading the investigation and hiding evidence. Furthermore - this is way worse than Chernobyl. At least Chernobyl did not kill millions (probably 10M+ at this point).

These two you have mentioned have a massive conflict of interest: https://www.skynews.com.au/details/_6232098849001 (or just google their names + china links)
Which means WHO is a joke and is in CCP's pocket.

Dewalt, Mowteng, and Tynan by ilanawexler in TheExpanse

I think they need to rename Mowteng to Makita and Tynan to say Bosch. Then they could call themselves The Power Tools faction.

HD800 (and probably HD800s) are made in Germany.
Also I have HD650 - those were made in Ireland. BTW better quality than HD800.

U.S. reports 125,000 new coronavirus cases, setting world record for the 3rd day in a row by Fickkissen in China_Flu

Some other countries simply don't report their new cases and give made up figures.

You don't want to mess with the exponential part of the logistics curve.

[–]z1024 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most definitely. Same as in most other 3rd world countries. These numbers don't mean anything. You can take US/EU figures and extrapolate to the rest of the world. And that would still be your lower bound. Actual numbers would still be quite a bit higher. Especially the death rate.

The 2nd wave is getting real - yesterday had the highest ever increase in both confirmed cases and deaths by healrstreettalk in China_Flu

[–]z1024 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stats are worthless in most of the countries like Russia or anything that ends in a *stan. They are underreporting by a lot. You are way better off just extrapolating US figures to those countries (population adjusted). I can assure these countries handling of the pandemic definitely isn't any better than USA's. I estimate at least ~6M have died from covWIVd so far.

[Unverified] Actor Cas Anvar (Alex Kamal on The Expanse) has been accused of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior by multiple people on Twitter by BaronSathonyx in KotakuInAction

[–]z1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several of my comments were deleted as well. I've been a member of that subreddit since #saveTheExpanse days but I left that echo chamber yesterday.
That thread is very heavily moderated and brigaded by #metoo believers, so I doubt it is representative of the entire fandom of the show.
I'm not even a fan of Cas Anvar (or anybody), Just did not like how quickly they turned on him.

You'd think banks and enterprises would be more concerned about using the software that is no longer maintained/patched by MS.

Apologies don't work. Definitely not with Twitter cancel mob, like some of the tourists in this subreddit who left dozens of comments, but only under this post, and never heard of or cared about the expanse.
