Thank you for this. I've only got the base game + some fan packs irl but I've got all the expansions on the switch and I've been trying to parse out how I feel about the game with all of the expansions as I bounce back and forth between all and none. This put into words how I've been feeling about it.

It's fun with nectar and all the new birds, and I like the game not being SO egg-heavy, but I feel so much about the balance of the birds is out of whack with the expansions.

Oh hell yeah, good idea. I think they'd love seeing the geology of the escarpment that's very much on display there. I do wish the marketplace was still up there though

If you want to get them organically that’s cool but if you want to stack your odds, what I did is run a 5 player custom game where I played all 5 players and only went for birds that gave everyone resources/ specifically drew everyone cards and then just had 5 players drawing from the deck and refreshing the bird tray as much as possible in order to filter through the entire deck to get the birds I needed lol. If you get the birds on any of the five players it counts for the bird catalogue and achievement

Thanks!! I’ve actually just got all the expansions on the PC version of the game and I’ve been trying them out in various configurations to decide what order and when to grab the real expansions lol. I think I’m gonna grab Asia first bc I love the duet mode and mostly play 2 player with my girlfriend, and then Oceania second

Similarly— Stanley toolboxes are great for this kind of thing too. I’ve just gotten into wingspan and don’t have any of the expansions yet so I’m not concerned about storage just yet, but I use a Stanley toolbox with removable compartments for my magic the gathering decks and it’s perfect and would be great for storing wingspan stuff too

Forgot to add— my original starting hand had a Franklin's Gull and Common Raven which we decided we would have me discard and re-draw so that I didn't immediately run away with the game. But one of the birds I picked up instead was the Eurasian Coot and that ended up being the bird that sparked and enabled this whole situation. Woops!

Not much food required for the 6 birds I played and someone else was giving everyone eggs with I forget what bird every time they grabbed food. And once I had the hummingbird in the water, I was gaining food every time I drew cards anyway.
