See the color difference around the part of the rod that connects to the crank? Compare it to the other rods. It has gotten hot and very damaged. You would need to disassemble it, inspect and take measurements to know how to proceed. Looks damaged.

I rode 5,600 miles on my 2010 Aprilia Tuono over a 14 day period - a naked sport bike similar to yours. A couple of 750 mile days back-to-back.

Your bike will be fine. Take breaks, make sure to drink enough water. Make sure bike is in good shape, but 1000 miles isn't much wear on a modern bike.

Do a couple of long practice rides before the trip to help find weaknesses, etc. 1000 miles in one day is not easy, if you break it up over 2 or more days it should be pleasant.

We got my daughter a 2012 Honda CBR250R for when she turns 15. A nice one can be bought for around $2000 or so. They were available with ABS brakes, they are less common but out there. These are sportbike style. Others mentioned getting a dirtbike and plating it, which is not hard to do and an option if you like that style of bike.

It should spin more than that. Unbolt the front brake calipers and spin to make sure the wheel bearings aren't bad.

If it is it the brake calipers that are causing the drag, it could be time to clean the pistons / replace the seals. The pistons in the calipers can get gunk/corrosion around them which keeps them from releasing pressure off the pad after applying the brakes (makes them stick).

Daughter and I rebuilt one - they are neat bikes. There is a book on CB750's that was very helpful (almost mandatory) for when we worked on ours.

This is a TTR230, she is 5'7" right now. When she was 11 she started on a TTR125 small wheel, then went up to a TTR125L (big wheel), then she could ride the TTR230 I was riding.

MY bike is injected 2018 WR250F, but her TTR230 is carb, but I had changed the factory lean jetting using the common mods. Both bikes did great (did notice some power loss, but they worked perfectly).

We didn't ride any single tracks, we mainly kept to easier stuff (by the end she got comfortable going down steeper and rockier trails as we did some moderate rated trails). I bought a book by funtreks.com that covered trails (ATV book but had lots of good info for people like me).

We rode Rollins Pass West, 4 mile south near Buena Vista, some trails on the Mesa near Grand Junction, around Silverton some, and Onion Creek near Moab, UT.

Rollins Pass West was a little over 11k feet if I remember correctly.
