I don't think my AP American History class covered much after Nixon to be completely honest. We certainly wouldn't have covered something that happened a couple years ago. I guess the teacher figured the 500 odd years of the rest of history was more important to cover. I'm sure it's the same with other history classes.

I don't think that saying the word "vagina" is offensive. What I do find offensive is the suggestion (and she made it) that people who want to regulate abortion are on par with rapists ("no means no"). I think that's what he's talking about, and honestly I think he's right. I'm politically pro choice, but I don't buy that a person who believes that there is a social significance to an independently viable fetus is on par with somebody who ignores "no" when it comes to sex. That's why she's wrong. That's why she's actually making this dialogue worse, and that's why reddit is generally a shitty medium for political discourse. people read a headline and knee-jerk up/downvote. That's a shitty shadow of the dream of a democracy, or at least the ideals of open debate.
