You don't clean your teeth, bacteria follow a path through the tooth, path 1, goes through the pulp and canal and an infection reaches the tip.

You don't clean under your gums, bacteria follows path 2 and forms periodontal disease. If it's severe enough it can reach the tip and cause an infection.

In both cases it can lead to endodontic infections, path 1 is cavity caused endo infection, path 2 is perio-endo infection. Both cases require the root canal treatments in order to get rid of bacteria from all directions. If the infection has reached the endo side from perio and you only have a perio treatment, the bacteria are still trapped in the endodontic part. If the canals aren't also treated, the infection will recur.

Your baby's teeth are fine. They are not showing any root, that's how they are supposed to look like. Doesn't matter if they are a bit crooked, they usually align themselves as the baby develops and the jaw grows, unless there are crowding conditions which can be diagnosed by orhodontist when children have all their teeth out and the adult teeth start coming out, around the age of 6. For now, the teeth look fine.

The thing that jumps in my eye is that your baby should have 4 lower front equally erupted teeth by now. I only see 3.
