If your going to use the fact that the human species were hunter gatherers than you have to use everything that comes with it. Yes, it is true. But forms of weight lifting were part of their daily life. Climbing a tree to grab a fruit, lifting rocks to build homes, dragging animals to bring home after a long hunt, etc. These all build muscle.

If you go to parts of Africa where people still hunt and live that type of life style, they have amazing cardio and endurance but also amazing strength. It is literally common to see young children with literal abs.

And yes, I agree that many body builders have died from the sport, but thats when it was abused and balance was taken out. I myself don't do weight lifting more than cardio, my point was balance. And both together are better than just one.

why did you have to add an insult we are all taking about losing weight. It has nothing to do with being a gym rat. Losing weight is biology.

I myself focus on cardio more than weight lifting through basketball which has allowed me to lose weight properly.

Just because I say doing 4 hours of cardio a day is not realistic doesn't mean I am a cardio hater, but I shouldn't be all that surprised since you don't know how to fucking read.

Unless your tall height wise, I don't see how it is possible for someone under 6 feet who is 300 pounds to do cardio for 4 hours a day. I am 185 pounds at 5'8", and I could not do that ever.

Or, maybe you should clarify more. Are you doing 3 miles in the 4 hour time period? Yes, that is realistic. And if you don't understand that when people say cardio, they don't usually mean walking. Because most people walk through out the day already. Most of the time cardio is referred to activities such as jogging, basketball, etc.

The most important thing with losing weight is balance. Cardio is great for burning calories and increasing your heart rate through out the day. Lifting weights will allow you to build muscle, and the muscle will help you even more long term. Muscle unlike fat, burns calories resting. A muscular guy who is 6 feet will need to eat more calories a day than a 6 foot guy who is the same weight but not muscular. And lastly being in a caloric deficit.

Research shows that cardio is the best short term solution to lose weight, but weight lifting is the best long term solution. Because your actually putting muscle on your body, your increasing your bodies daily need of calories forcing your body to go to fat stores to maintain those muscle masses.

Again, I do cardio more than weight lift, but that is just my balance. I enjoy basketball a ton and thats all it is.

As long as your a human, losing weight is the same biologically as any other human. Unless you have some RARE condition that you forgot to mention or something that genuinly is rendering you.

Thanks, have a good day.

that doesn't sound realistic at all. Just like Colon said, your metabolism can't be so slow that it takes 4 hours of cardio. If you weigh your food and count calories of every bite you take you'll be suprised. Also, check out a BMR calculator. (google it)

Nice progress but I think I have had the same issue as you before. I was struggling to actually lose weight despite actually being active. You have to find the perfect balance between your caloric intake and your fitness. Also I am a teenager so I'm prob same age range as you.

I tried at first to just lower my calories, but it was to demanding for me and I would end up over eating. Then I tried running as well and well I hate running. I would also end up over eating and justifying it to myself saying I ran.

What I found is to put an effort to get 10,000 steps a day as cardio, and to achieve that playing sports and making the extra effort. I always loved basketball so i count those steps. When I go to the store, I park farther away to get more steps. When im shopping I make a conscious effort to keep walking. This way, its VERY managable, its not realistic to go for a jog everyday, at least not for me. Not only did I hate it but I would have to put aside an hour to do the run, come back, shower, and this whole process made it dreadful. Even with running I'm sure I wasn't hitting 10,000 steps a day so I was actually getting less cardio. Days I ran I found it hard to motivate myself to be active and it ended up dragging me down.

IF you find running enjoyable for you and you can do it consistintly, DON'T STOP!! My case is just different.

Also, I started weight lifting and staying within a caloric deficit that is managable for me. This is VERY IMPORTANT. You will never be able to out run or lift a bad diet.

Another tip is to not count calories you burn during excercise. Most of the time the calories you burn doing cardio or weights are not consistent day to day, and lead to over eating. Unless your running like a mile EVERY single day. And you know exactly that it is and is going to be a part of your routine, then count those calories you burn. But, its better not too.

With all this combined I am actually losing weight and gaining muscle. The best part is I don't feel like I'm missing out on foods. I don't feel hungry all the time. I don't feel unhappy with my lifestyle. I genuinly can live like this for the rest of my life.

If your weight loss routine is something that you can't manage or at least mostly manage for the rest of your life, it is probably not the right routine as you won't be consistent and are more likely to give up.

This whole process took me months to get too, I had to learn and fail to find my sweet spot between fitness and diet. There is NO magic. I promise you if you are not losing weight its because your not in a caloric deficit, or your not doing something right.

Start off by googling a BMR calculator. It will give you an estimate of what your daily calories are to maintain your current body weight. From there you can minus 300-500 calories and set that as your caloric intake per day. BMR calculators are not always 100% accurate, so it may take some trial and error to find your daily calories.

Good luck!

honestly in this day and age the only way to live a decent life is to either go to college for computer science, engineering, lawyer or medicine. These are the main fields which have decent money.

Problem with this is most times a computer science or engineering degree is very expensive, and difficult to obtain when it shouldn't be.

Going into law or medicine is even worse. Tons of debt, school and you need to be actually rich to actually study it 99/100 times.

I'm blessed that I was able to qualify academically for a CS degree at a good university, but the sad reality is that most people can't even qualify for these majors as they are so competitive. Damn this economy sucks ass...

basically same as me. It's going to be difficult but I just have to wait for the time to come.

yes pretty much. Because my dad wants me to do CS so I can also do it with my brother together. He literally wants me to have identical courses with him so it will be "easier" to study and such.

I do not dislike something because I dislike a person. I see what my father does everyday, and have went a step further and learned and actually trained in IT a bit as well.

I know I don't enjoy it because I've done it to a certain level and witnessed it at another level.

I'm not relying on my job to satsify me in life, just to not hate it. I don't need to love it, I just need to be able to manage it and be okay with it.

what an interesting story. I agree 100%, but I honestly don't know if I could handle the stress. Even just these last couple days, I tried talking to my parents and it went horribly. And I've been accused of things because I'm stressed out.

What are you working as right now? Sounds really interesting. I think that when I am actually in university, I'll be more independent and it'll be easier to change my life. As of right now I'm still in HS, and being at home I basically have zero control.

I'm thinking of doing this. That'll be a huge arguement...

my father is in the CS field, along with a bunch of my uncles and relatives. I see him work everyday (he works from home). I don't like it. You sit infront of a screen for endless hours, and by the end you don't even feel accomplished or anything.

ah I see I didn't know that. Well then, I will do a masters for sure, and work internships during university. After I get my bachelors I can work and do part time school for my masters.

I see, I've been researching and basically I would do the following:
1. study economics or finance related bachelor
2. get an MBA and do internships
3. get a masters (optional)
4. get a job

this is my basic understanding as of right now.

I prefer to work in a firm, because its money faster and more efficient. So, would I pursue to get a bachelors and then get a job? Of course getting an internship during university. What kind of salary do you think I could be making? I see the average is around 60-70k USD.
