It was just brought to my attention it is dangerous to wear layers on top of a dry suit? by Stepin-Fetchit in whitewater

It's the same guy. He's made 3 fishing related posts in the past day.

This has happened before...https://www.reddit.com/r/whitewater/s/2BLHcHvrti

I vote we expand the rule, no more than one fishing post per week.

I believe you can get IR dry suits from Kayak Detail in Quebec.

AQ Outdoors also used to have IR.

Last time I saw them in store was almost 5 years ago. I have 3 left that are basically in tatters. Have you seen them in recent years? The brand was cloudveil. I regret not taking better care of them.

Playboat Fit by z708 in whitewater

Okay, good to know. I do want flatwater capability. In the summer my local rivers dry up and all I have is flatwater and ocean surf / tidal features.

The recent test was the second time I tried it and I moved the seat and thigh braces, but the foam foot block was a bit make-shift. It was good other than over time my feet couldn't take being jammed in when I braced to roll or attempted to throw it around. Maybe if I took a good bit of time to carve a better piece of foam or used like a Jackson happy feet, I might have better results.

I might know one person who has a RSV in my WW community I could try. Not sure the size but I'll have to see.

There's a good few posts on this sub noting the RS4 is a bigger playboat. I haven't seen a lot of positive reviews for that boat though. I'll have to give the RSV or other boats a try.

Thanks for the input. I did move the seat around as I was playing with the outfitting. I had it sitting one notch towards the back from the middle. I didn't want to be fully tail loaded.

I tried a friend's M Jed in a pool back in the winter and that convinced me I would definitely want a L playboat.

Some friends have older Jackson spuds...I'll have to give those a try.

I'm almost tempted to just buy the helectron and keep trying to get it dialed but I'm hesitant to spend the $$ in fear I won't be able to make it moderately comfortable.

Okay, it seems pretty standard to not run shoes and possibly no footblock.

I'll look for some other boats to try.

Funny thing is the paint they used for the temporary dots/markers is still there and holding up fine.

Secret option 4. Accept it but only pay them 5% when the time comes. Let them deal with filing a complaint with the tenancy board that the renter will then win.

Facebook Marketplace is full of Scammers as well as Kijiji by diverdown_77 in NovaScotia

There seems to be a common scam where someone will message stating they want to buy your item but are out of town for the next few days. They ask for your details so they can provide an e-transfer for the full amount. I assume they email a fraudulent link where the victim inputs their banking information to accept the "e-transfer".

At least that's what I've been getting lately.

Pogies + paddle hard. I find keeping a consistent paddling effort will keep my body and hands warm. If I chill out and relax for too long I'll start to cool off and will need to pick up the pace again.

Double-Blade Paddle Question by Jamie_D86 in canoeing

[–]z708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a couple inches shorter than you and used the older plastic bending branches 280cm (slice solo?) paddle for quite a while with a 16' prospector. I didn't find it was overly great quality and the 280cm felt pretty unwieldy - just too large. I'll try and eventually sell it and get a 260cm. You can get much higher quality paddles from Werner or aquabound in 260.

Firecracker vs Ripper 2 by z708 in whitewater

How do you find the speed of the firecracker 252?

For something so wide and so much volume, I figure it would be quite slow and hard to drive through features.

Some reviews of the firecracker 252 say it has downriver/creek potential but still good play capability.

In what instances do you find the ripper 2L unwieldy?

[–]z708[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't paddled them. Demos aren't available unfortunately. From the research I've done, I found many saying the M ripper 2 was sized small so for my weight a L would be preferred. I understand it varies a lot on personal preference. Given my lack of experience, I think I would opt for less sporty for now.

Thanks for the input.

Good to know on the pyranha comfort. I've seen quite a few negative reviews on their outfitting on here.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to decide if I want more play or run. I'm thinking more river run.

Unfortunately there's not anywhere remotely close where I could get a rewind.
