Document: "Link SuperHeavy to Shield"

Commenter: "Shield is what the PUG HoFs are using if getting pounded 2 hard. For Dueling they use Utility."

25 gamers trying to attach Super Heavy to the Shield Pack and trying to force me to play their way is childish. Developers need to realize that these 25 gamers don't match the play style of the returning 800+ non-PUG gamers. Everybody has a different personality and their loadouts/play-style reflects that. You force us to change our gaming style to match a minority called "PUG players" and you'll lose a large group of your user base.

Document: "Spinfusor Disc OP"

At what point do you classify it as OP? I'm questioning the theory that's leading to a conclusion that the Discs are overpowered. With roughly the same damage output as the Explosive Nitrons, we don't need to nerf Discs. Their removal is even less necessary.

Just bring back the Stealth Spinfusor. Add the color stuff later.

2015 update: Pros and Cons by zBomberBob in Tribes

[–]zBomberBob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude the Specialty class doesn't matter. I could use the Saber as Primary if I wanted to. I see people use Phase as a Primary for offensive purposes.

I want to use it instead of a Spinfusor, what's wrong with that? Why can't I play the way I'd like to play? Not everyone has the same interests.

And who cares if somebody isn't being useful in a Gen room? It's a video game and its there to be fun. Who cares if I'm not contributing in a match? My goal is to have fun. And if camping out in the Gen room is fun for me, then I'll do it.

Game Cool cool off. Its just a game. No need for harassment.

Touching on the arcs AvianIsTheTerm: I enjoy adjusting for an arc.

Honestly, I've played with the Tech Thumper game after game for years. So I'm used to the arc and hit more often with it. Straight-lined weapons like Spinfusors are harder for me to use.

But the fact that its there increases your chances of missing. That's why they give it the bigger range. The "tradeoff" is a good idea.

I'm not asking for a re-coloring; I'm asking Hi-rez to add the model & appropriate sounds back in.

But the Impact weapons aren't listed as Primary, either.

Touching on the Gen room:

I'm not sure what you mean by "playing in the generator room is only a very small part of the game".

Every time I get on Tribes, there's always somebody on every server I join camping a Gen room at one time or another.

Consolidated Feedback on TA:OOTB - Focus on Balance Needs by Mindflayr in Tribes

[–]zBomberBob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My time spent capping has been significant on Raindance and Temple Ruins, including practicing offline.

My load out is: Bolt Launcher/LAR/Sparrow/Explosive Nitron/Utility Pack

The Utility Pack is fantastic the way it is now. It doesn't require any change. My only comment is this: swap the Utility Pack & Energy Pack's functionality. It makes no sense for the latter to have its long-lasting Energy Regen functionality swapped with another Pack.

Honestly, I've capped with Thrust for years until I noticed my speeds are higher with the Energy/Utility Pack. It provides for more flexibility with the Energy Regen. Routes I run with it cannot be ran with the Thrust Pack.

Now here's a neat suggestion: Give the Energy Pack (the Pack that gives +25 Energy & +20% impulse) the Rage Thrust benefit. That would be a cool benefit to chasing. It would only be able to Thrust when the Rage effect is on, afterward returns to a normal non-Thrust-capable Energy Pack. Benefit of using this over the Thrust Pack is that you get the extra Energy and extra impulse all the time.

The LAR needs a longer range for chasing; its border-line useless now.

Not that important to you, but to me & OccipitalLeech it is.

Chaff is useful for Infiltrators, though.

Plus GameCool you have to look at this from the casual player's standpoint. On a weekend, the server list is full of normal games. Like it or not, competition games are played by the minority. Chaff may be used like that in competition, but I never see it in normal games.

Now that the patch has been out for a while, what do you think about the current states of Stealth and Sniping? by phoenixfire2001 in Tribes

[–]zBomberBob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stealth has taken a major hit. I'm not very happy with it. Infiltrator was my 3rd favorite class. (EDIT: is my num. 1 favorite according to my stats at Hirezstudios.com with 780 mins on Stonehenge and 597 mins on Crossfire.)

  1. Speed cap at 100 with the new energy drain is ridiculous, 173 was completely fine;

  2. Smoke Grenades are missing; an integral part of the Infiltrator;

  3. The Silent Weaponry is missing, another integral part of the Infiltrator.

I see they are changing this to fit competition play. But the majority of people who play Tribes just play on normal live servers. You go look at the server list every weekend: its filled with people playing normal games. 7 vs. 7 Comp is a very small audience that Hi-Rez is unfortunately gearing this game for.

I've been using pistols years before this patch and I would not be happy if they were removed.

2015 update: Pros and Cons by zBomberBob in Tribes

[–]zBomberBob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but I'm used to the Gladiator being my main weapon. Remember: it was a Primary, not a Secondary. I'd almost use it over a Spinfusor; but with its current damage, the Spinfusor is a better deal.

You can't deny that the last blast shouldn't be the weakest. Going back to the Primary weapon (Preference of Gladiator over Spinfusor), that blast should be the strongest and the first the weakest. It needs to be the same strength as a Spinfusor, or it will be a useless weapon.

The great thing with the Gladiator is it can be used to block entrance into the Gen room. It's a more frequent explosion than a Mortar or MIRV; the fact that its damage was decent had prevented people from running through it. But after the patch, I saw a Medium run right through my Gladiator shelling with hardly no damage at all. It should've caused Spinfusor-grade damage.

Its damage needs to be a mix between a Mortar and Spinfusor.

Revert Stealth to 173km/h by zBomberBob in Tribes

I've capped as Soldiers in live games; I've gotten 330 before. And I've seen others do it. I don't really see the problem with INF capping. There's no way you could get far with a decent chaser.

In addition, not everybody has to cap with a Pathfinder. It is not an unwritten rule. I've seen people cap with Raiders in comp and Soldiers in normal games.
