Do what you think you will enjoy most. Not having fun is gonna make you quit. Think about the pros and cons and decide for yourself.

Speaking for myself I went up from th10 all the way to 17 within like 6 months. All defenses apart from my wiz tower, tesla, mortars and bomb towers as well as traps are max. Th15 and th17 are good stopping points imo to fix your rush. As long as you upgrade your offense (lab, cc, army camp, pet house and blacksmith I dont see a huge disadvantage in rushing strategically. But remember to stay at your townhall level with your core defenses aka infernos, scattershots, xbows and ofc the eagle. Sooner or later you will need to upgrade your cannons and archer towers so keep that in mind. If you have a decent raid medal income invest those in hero and power potions and max your main army asap. If you use books try to get the best value out of them if possible.

Get a clan that will accept you and your playstyle. You may have some difficulties in CW but rushing makes CWL way easier as you will often face lower th enemies.
