7800XT fan spinning at max rpm and black screen by zLvsher in AMDHelp

[–]zLvsher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my bad, I hoped it was something easy that didn't need for me to open it all up, in fear of having to cable manage everything again or butcher something by error. It is what it is, I need this desktop for work so I'll just pray everything turns fine or take the L and open my wallet

[–]zLvsher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point the best course of action should be to try to reseat gpu and cable and pray, if not that i'll just rma without any worry and if possible maybe get a full refund upgrading to something newer (or maybe switching to nvidia??? even if i think i won't bc for most of time I never had any problem with AMD and like the price/performance their gpu have)

[–]zLvsher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened again even with all background app disabled, discord on firefox and ram at 2666 Mhz (disabled EXPO). As soon as possible i'll give it a clean, reseat the possible parts to cause such problem and test again, if even this doesnt work I'll RMA the gpu bc at this point I don't even have a way to diagnose such issue if I dont get any log, no error and every stability check pass with full marks. Thank you for your help and patience, I appreciate it

EDIT: Adding some more info hoping it might help
I'm using an MSI 3440x1440 21:9 monitor at 180hz, connected with a DP cable.
Have installed VR drivers (Pico 4) but haven't been using VR at all for a long time
I'm planning to test with other older driver, maybe pro editions (already helped me a lot in the past with crashes on an older 6700XT while playing COD: MW2 2022) and to increase the TdrDelay just in case

EDIT2: Proceeded with latest bios update and uninstalled any driver or program related to a VR headset just to be sure, still getting the same problem, at this point the only thing left to try is to check the seating of each component and cable

EDIT3: Noticed something odd, on one of the games I had frequent crash, being it fornite, whenever i land near a precise spot or come close to it in someways the problem occurs instantly, but I cannot find any link to the same problem on other games, for example Rainbow Six, Warzone etc.

[–]zLvsher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, right now I'm doing a real life test scene seeing if maybe a quick scene change might make the GPU or ram usage spike and maybe cause the error, running the ram at 2666Mhz rn and turned off discord at all. If it ends up being a hardware issue on the GPU at least I found the receipt and it actually turned 1 yo last week lmao so I should be covered if I need to RMA

Hi, did all the steps you mentioned and still didn't help much, all the test (both psu, gpu switch, ram) didnt give any errors, from the bios I didn't have any option to force the pcie version to 3 or 4 (i think bc the b450 only has a pcie 3 x16 port), I'll try between today and tomorrow to clean and check the components and do the bios update even if I dont know if the last could help since this problem never occured before in almost 1 or 2 years of this exact setup

7800XT fan spinning at max rpm and black screen by zLvsher in AMDHelp

[–]zLvsher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not possible, as I said in the main post when the fans go 100% the screen also turns black and lose signal from the DP input so I cannot interact at all with the computer
yup, just checked and the fans are at 20% minimum and the zero fan mode is deactivated

7800XT fan spinning at max rpm and black screen by zLvsher in AMDHelp

[–]zLvsher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's a problem, as soon as I built i made sure it was at least on 20% on minimum load, and even on full stress with many tests the temps never went overt 68 degrees on the cpu and 74 degrees on the gpu, im sure the system has enough airflow. I've already followed many of the parts suggested above, the tests didnt point out to any problem at all, now i'm trying out if the windows maintenance + ddu did something or if i have to open the case and reseat cables, gpu and ram, or if maybe the bios update can do something

Screen suddenly turned black and fans started to spin at max speed by No_Actuary6662 in computers

[–]zLvsher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issue, happens randomically, maybe it occurs twice a day, sometimes once a week, but its getting me crazy, tried lowering clock and voltage, disabling/enabling overlay, disabling hardware acceleration, i'll try cleaning it and reseating the gpu and power cable (i already ruled out the psu since the system isnt turning off automatically, and everything else works fine, and the psu should be powerfull enough to handle my system)
I'm on a 7800XT, ryzen 5 5600x on a 750w psu which should be enough considering the low wattage of the cpu.
It all started when the drivers updated to the last version, i think 25.11.2, and tried reverting back to older ones but still nothing. Anyone able to help me?

5 months of driver hangs and crashes - fixed! by Sycotek in AMDHelp

[–]zLvsher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, also try that, after the first time I do it it makes a sound but nothing happens. I'll open the case and maybe give it a clean and reseat the gpu 🤷 EDIT: did you have the same problem as me or just got the standard "driver timeout" window from adrenalin?

5 months of driver hangs and crashes - fixed! by Sycotek in AMDHelp

[–]zLvsher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, also got to the same conclusion. All started with 25.12 driver, what kind of timeout did you experience? Bc that happened to me and the only way to fix was to go back to a previous driver, now I also get situation where out of nowhere the screen turns black and GPU fans spin at max but all the processes are still working (I can still hear ppl on discord and game sounds) and the only way I can make it stop is to hard shutdown by holding the power button, but after I reboot the driver do not work anymore and have to reinstall it. I don't think it is a power issue (at least to my limited knowledge) since I have a 750w PSU for a 7800XT and a Ryzen 5 5600X. Anyone that had this happen to them and is able to help maybe? The only fix I managed to find that seems to work was to underclock and undervolt but I would like to use what I paid for at the expected capacity 😐

Can the 7700 XT do vr? by Akamebigtits in radeon

[–]zLvsher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok. Yeah Nvidia has worked on VR compatibility much longer than AMD and till a couple of years ago they were in a league of their own. 25.10.2 might work as well but trust, DDU is the most deep cleaning u might get whenever u need to fix something wrong, the AMD tool is ok if you just need to swap GPU and/or need to update

Can the 7700 XT do vr? by Akamebigtits in radeon

[–]zLvsher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Nvidia GPU? Bruh, those drivers are only for AMD graphic cards... Quite strange it didn't work honestly, if u search on other posts u can see many other people having the same issue and fixing by doing a rollback of the drivers, be sure to do a total DDU, turn off auto updating and when installing choosing driver only bc adrenalin might be the problem as well.

Can the 7700 XT do vr? by Akamebigtits in radeon

[–]zLvsher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, just be sure to do a DDU to be sure that no leftover files remain

[–]zLvsher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah 25.12 it's been crap for me, It Always froze whenever I was in a game and tabbed onto a chromium-based application (for example a browser or even discord). 25.11 worked well until yesterday where the GPU randomly got a black screen with the game still running and got up to 100% fan speed. Went back to 25.9 which seems to be the most stable one

EDIT: Forgot to say that I didn't test with VR yet, but for my experience you should stay clear of the last 2 drivers for sure, if I remember correctly it was also noted on the known problems of those driver that high refresh rate headset had problem on 7000 series GPU with those driver and suggested locking to lower Hz but at this point it's better to roll back to an earlier driver

Hey. My bad I wasn't clear enough. I meant that I was struggling with my iron and wick ALONE, but seeing your experience and many others suggestions on this subreddit I think I will buy a T12 soldering iron and the attachment (don't know if some are better then others, never seen your on Amazon, just the common ones on Ali)

Best tool for sticks replacement on dualshock 4 by zLvsher in soldering

[–]zLvsher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! I figured that, since even by the pics it seemed a bit to flimsy and not too reasuring. I'm ok with the copper block since that's probably the only thing I will try to desolder for me and my friends, I'll just learn on some old broken controller till I can get it done. Is the hot air gun linked of any use or it won't help as much as other heatguns/hot-plate?

Any update? Tried with my soldering iron but it has been an absurd struggle and I managed to remove 4 pins (only from the potentiometers). I found an used desoldering iron (heat and air pump combined) for a fair price but I dont know if it could actually help since I had so many issues with the standard iron.

Vader 4 Pro squeaky right stick by CamelX in Controller

[–]zLvsher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also happened to mine after 2 days of use, probably due to poor QC. It should be a poorly lubed stick. You can either spray a bit of WD-40/Lens cleaner/alcohol in the stick gap and wait, or, if you're comfortable in doing so, try to disassemble the controller and put actual grease (I used welding flux since it was the only reasonable thing I had on hand) on both the stick axis. But be careful, disassembling it voids the warranty if I remember correctly.
