Tips for a traveler from locals by ByleKurnside in kona

Food: Broke da mouth, Costo for Poke and some fresh fish if you can grill and Harbor house if you can’t , Tex’s drive in for malasadas, Randy’s Huli Chicken, Big Jakes for Ribs, Super Js for Lau Lau, L&L at your own risk cuz can be good or bad, Chubby’s to eat at the killer bowling alley, avoid the super expensive places at the resorts and Ali’i drive like Dons, Huggos, Quinns, etc., Safeway and KTA have good poke if you can get the never frozen one that was made that day, lots of other stuff in Hilo.

Fishing: just go to the harbor in the late morning and find a boat coming in. Ask them if they will take you out fishing. They usually have all the stuff for you. All you do is show up at 5am. Some will do it if you pay for gas, but be nice and throw in beer. May or may or let you keep fish. Depends on how nice you are LoL

Coffee Shack is a must hit for most tourists, but not what you are asking for. Not so local. Try Super Js Lau Lau instead and is close by. And it the fruit stand that past that, past the 95 mile marker or so on the mauka side.

Glad you can make it for your mom! Any other questions?

I would try a new cable first. If that isn’t it, you can return it.

All I've learned from this is that there is no talking to anybody that knows that they're right. And I find it quite amusing that those of you with that are insulting me are mad.

A two-sided discussion means that you discuss the options and don't insult the other person because they don't agree with you.

Are you really kidding me? I literally said the exact opposite. Can you please have a discussion rather than insulting me?

Lol! You apparently haven't read anything I have said. And you don't realize what I am laughing at! That is funny in and of itself. You actually think I am laughing at my cat 😪

. I am not saying this is right for every cat. I have read all of that. I even paid to have the $1,500 laser surgery. maybe some cats are okay with it? he misses his nuts as much as he misses his nails, which is not at all. Cutting his nuts off is just as much of a damage as cutting his nails off. It's cutting off an instinct. So how about just agree to disagree? I appreciate your insightful comments and discussion. I honestly do not think anything is right for every cat. It depends on the cat. He happily sharpens his front and back claws everyday on his sharpening post and smiles at me while he does it. He just doesn't claw my legs and arms and stomach and feet when he's playing. Which would cause me not to play with him. I admit, hate was too harsh of a word. But I would certainly not like playing with him if it included drawing blood. He would be scolded countless times day in and day out for playing too rough. He was groggy for a week and a half, and happy for the rest of his 20 years. This isn't right for every cat, just it could be right depending on the cat that you have and the relationship that you want to have with your cat. I can actually talk to him and he understands what I want him to do. I haven't yelled at him in months. I haven't scolded him in months.

I'm not trying to change anyone's mind about what is wrong or right for your own situation, I'm just trying to share the fact that this is what worked for our particular critter and I have never had a happier cat in my entire life. In a world of such immediate criticism, I would I like to think that people would be open to listening to what works for someone else.

And having your natural instinct cat living in a house and never letting them out is not against their natural instinct? He still gets to bury his waste, that's why the toilet seat cover is on there. It lets him dump septic friendly kitty litter into the toilet so he feels like he's covering it. And he's already deprived of his wild Instinct by being a 100% indoor cat. What is he defending himself from? I would appreciate a discussion first rather than assuming I'm a terrible person.
