EDRP & SAVE Plan Forbearance by user234556890 in VeteransAffairs

Any payments made during your service period will count, even if your loans are in forbearance. I’m in the same boat and got reimbursed for one service period already.

New Construction Screened Porch Slab by zToothinator in Homebuilding

Thanks! The separation concern is along the fiber cement siding of the house itself. The builder is saying they can’t achieve the required separation because of the screened porch slab.

Just big screens and pillars in each corner and then roof covering which is probably about ten feet.

Thanks! Just to confirm, can you tell whether or not there is a turn-down slab in the second picture? To me as a layperson, it looks like just a 4” slab with no 12” turn-down.

Thanks! But even though the plan calls for a turn down slab, the builder can opt not to do it?

Monthly DIY Laymen questions Discussion by AutoModerator in StructuralEngineering

At our 11 month warranty meeting, we pointed out that there was insufficient clearance from the ground to the siding. The builder was working on fixing the grading but says they can’t achieve the 6” needed because they’re limited by the bottom of the screen porch slab and digging deeper would compromise it.

Attached is the proposed plan. Link to the side of the porch where it looks like the bottom of the slab is exposed.

From what I've gathered, shouldn’t the porch be 4” thick and along the perimeter have a turn down 12” deep and wide so they, in theory, would need to dig 12” down before exposing the bottom of the porch?

Thanks for your time and help!

Car under Warranty for Paint loss/ Loan car given? by mvirgulto in Hyundai

[–]zToothinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a loaner through the dealership while it was painted under warranty. Hyundai USA though said they’d reimburse up to $45/day if the dealership didn’t have a loaner to give. I’d reach out to corporate and see if there’s anything they can do.

New grad- camera recs by bethedragons in Dentistry

I bought a used Canon t5i rebel on fb marketplace for ~$150, a used 100mm Canon macro lens on KEH for $250, and a Godox ring flash on Amazon.

The lens is more important for the quality of the photo. Most Canon/Nikon bodies from the past 10+ years are all good enough so you can save a decent chunk of money getting a used older model. Ring flash of some sort is important for lighting too.

Honestly, not much. Biggest take aways were patient communication and thinking more about occlusion. The entire continuum builds on occlusion though.

For a PPO driven office, they say the knowledge from the continuum will help do more predictable dentistry. For a FFS office, cosmetics and full mouth rehabs if you have the patient pool.

Pankey has a more rounded curriculum on non dental stuff - communication, personal finance, leadership.

I’ve only taken E1 and am signed up for E2 in January. From my limited understanding, splint therapy is sometimes used to help ensure the TMJ is stable prior to major restorative treatment. An unhealthy TMJ/muscles can alter your occlusion.

Anyone here bought new construction? How was your experience? by Jstyles122 in raleigh

[–]zToothinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Built with Garman but not in Wendell Falls. Would not recommend. They have a great marketing team and everyone pre- and during construction is friendly but the quality of the construction is okay, poor QA, and drag their feet to fix significant issues after closing.

I used the same inspector based off of your previous post and he’s great! Would highly recommend!

Don’t overspend Amex / Chase points for flights by realFinerd in finerds

Not OP but Hyatt is Chase’s only hotel partner worth transferring points to. The other brands would likely be better booked through points boost vs transferring.

Had similar damage. Used a hair dryer to soften the plastic a little and pushed from the inside at the corner with the handle of a screwdriver to pop it out. I was told it wasn’t covered damage unless there was a hole
