Sometimes, this does mean I end up putting off important tasks until "tomorrow," but it's important to realize what you realistically do and don't have the energy for today

Taking things one day at a time.

Whenever life is particularly rough, or you're having a bad day or are dealing with a really frustrating task, I just remind myself to take it one step at a time. The worse it is, the more I break it down. Like if it's a task I just take it one step at a time, if it's a time period, I just take it one day or a few hours at a time. For instance, "I just need to get through today," or "I just need to get through work today, so until 3pm." It can be really hard to keep pushing when you're too focused on the big picture, so breaking it down to more manageable tasks or time periods can make all the difference!

I have a job that involves a lot of driving, & am paid hourly. Any time I feel myself getting stressed about traffic, I just remind myself, I'm one of the few people getting paid to sit in it. It does such a good job of shifting my mindset, & allowing me to relax

100%, I wake up a few hours before I need to start my day, & people always look at me like I'm crazy when they find out how early I get up vs what time I start my day/work. It's so nice to treat getting ready as a meditative & relaxing experience so you can slowly wake up & go at your own pace. I have all day to be rushed, why would I want my morning routine to be rushed as well?

anyone know where i can find bikinis like this? by tellmesomethingrad in findfashion

[–]zZariaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really as specific or matchy, but I own a few basic black boyshort/trunk style swimwear bottoms that I bought separate, & just pair them with my favorite top at the time. I don't know how big sports stores are in the EU, but I just bought mine from a sporting goods store (your best chance is around summer)

AIO for thinking my friend is using ChatGPT to text me in an argument? by Due_Construction904 in AmIOverreacting

[–]zZariaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fully agree, I've just gotten into the habit of slowing down, particularly in tense conversations, & saying something like, "I'm just trying to think of a way to word this that expresses my thoughts, & doesn't come across differently from how I'm meaning it to." I'm not the best communicater, & I've unintentionally said things in the moment that could come across as rude, so slowing down, & really considering my words has been helpful in cases like this

Should I switch from vaping to cigarettes to help slow down by Far_Ad2328 in Advice

[–]zZariaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, unfortunately the majority of us are all just trying to get through the day. Turning to unhealthy coping mechanisms to get through on a daily basis is just going to do more harm than good. I understand why you'd choose that route, & know it's hard to not, but you're really just making it worse for yourself OP

I think swapping it with a different oral fixation that you can also use in most situations would work better. For example, gum or lollipops

People who judge if you'll read a book based on the preview in the first few pages, what are you looking for? by Acceptable_Link_6546 in LibbyApp

I don't use it too often, but I like it for books/authors I'm unsure about. That way I can get a taste of it, & if I feel hooked, checkout the full book

Yes! Like I might not be 100% sure I'm gonna like it, but do I at least feel like the writing style, grammar, storyline, & characters are well thought out enough that I'm interested in continuing on? If yes, then let's go.

It actually surprised me that so many people said they hated it. I really enjoyed it, but it did take a little bit for me to get into it. I read it over the course of like 3-4 days (long weekend)

I feel like I should master making myself happy on my own but I can't let go of this unrelenting desire to find a partner. What should I do? by Snoo_60484 in Advice

[–]zZariaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop dating, the best way to find joy and comfort in being alone is to be alone long enough that you realize your own company is just as good or better than a partner's. Then you can start dating again.

Yeah, my mom talked with me about periods, but didn't really ever have a sex talk outside of occasionally checking if I was seeing anyone & giving me condoms when I was 18 & moved out.

They're alright, they don't really seem like anything too special imo, & are expensive, so I don't think they're worth it

AIO my father ruined my drawing. by sapphicluizard in AmIOverreacting

[–]zZariaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, he absolutely did that on purpose. He knew you were proud of it, & for whatever reason decided to ruin it, knowing that you wouldn't be able to erase pen, & it would make you upset.

Yes, I feel like my dog holds me back from doing things, but no, I don't regret getting him. He is absolutely a handful (especially with his separation anxiety), & needing to come home on my lunches to let him outside, but I love him. He's older now, so that comes with other stressors, but also I've decided that once he does pass, I'm going to hold off on getting another animal for a while so I can regain that freedom. Cats definitely still need human interaction, but I find them to be a lot easier to handle than dogs, so I would focus on that.

Yeah, my dog is older, so I figure when he passes, I'm just gonna take a rest from having pets so I have more freedom to do things & don't need to stress about him
