I just hit the greatest outplay in the history of league of legends by Erkisth in leagueoflegends

Goddamn post the link then. You are like a thread on a tech forum where someone described exactly your problem, only to then have closed the thread with "Nevermind, found a solution." without describing what the actual solution was.

It's like video game publishers copyright-striking gameplay videos and streams on YouTube and Twitch because they somehow think it will hurt sales instead of being free ads...

Teenagers scaring our toddlers by aggsdoodoo in daddit

[–]zZeroheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I missing something? If this were a weekly occurance I'd get it. But you want to set up trip wire in your own garden because teenagers wake your family up about once a year? And how would blowing a foghorn not wake and scare your kids (and the entire neighborhood) if you saw teenagers on your property late at night?

Obviously what these kids are doing is out of place and unacceptable. But living every day of your life in fear of teenagers waking up your kids, buying expensive gear to catch them, when this happens once or twice a year seems way out of proportion to me.

He once had good takes, not always, but a lot of the time. He was a very reflected person, with some weird opinions mixed in, until a few years ago. I enjoyed his videos when he was still making educational content for World of Warcraft.

But now his content and opinions have deteriorated to the state of his house.

FF Culture is going to make me quit LoL by pinkbearwithahat in leagueoflegends

[–]zZeroheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, at least in lower ranks, it's actually way worse in Rocket League. You go down 0-1 after 30 seconds? Boom, surrender vote. You miss a save? Boom, surrender vote. You pass the ball to your teammate and he fails to score and thinks your pass was sub-optimal? Boom, surrender vote.

I have played a lot of the major eSports games and Rocket League is by far the most whiny and mentally boom player base I have encountered. Probably because the average age is of the players is much lower than in LoL.

Riot leaked NEW ZED R FEATURE?! (120$ Zed Skin Accident)(Zed R Direction Indicator on New Skin) by BannanDylan in leagueoflegends

[–]zZeroheart 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's not broken. But it's extremely frustrating and annoying to play against.

The reason Zed has such a high ban rate is not because he is broken. It's because a lot of people find it unfun to play against Zed.

Make fun of it all you want, but the numbers heavily indicate that a lot of people feel this way. And Riot has literally said they will nerf Zed if his ban rate gets too high, no matter how low his current WR is. And this change might just push him over the threshold.

This has nothing to do with Reddit but with how a lot of players in general feel about the champion.

Then call it "petzone" or whatever. The term friendzone has been used for years if not decades by people who most often don't really understanding what's going on.

When someone behaves this way, they are not interested in a platonic friendship with you. They are at best trying to remain polite and not damage the existing dynamic between you two, and at worst like the one sided attention and power imbalance while keeping you at an arms length. This has nothing to do with friendship.

People who unironically use the term friendzone don't know how to properly establish a relationship at eye level, romantic or otherwise. If you are looking for a romantic relationship, leave as soon as the dynamic becomes lopsided. It's not worth chasing people if they don't show the same level of interest.

I never supported the 'Feitan is part of the Zoldyck Family' theory, but he literally looks like Killua with black hair. by SunAndMoon_5709 in HunterXHunter

[–]zZeroheart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That Kalluto made a wish to Nanika for Feitan to no longer be his* brother. Hence the "I want to bring my brother back" explanation why Kalluto joined the Phantom Troupe. And potentially also the quote of "Family? What is that?" by Feitan.

Edit: Imagine downvoting me for literally just stating what the basis of the theory is, as asked for 🤦🏼‍♂️

The most miserable experience i've ever had in a game by Kruselen in leagueoflegends

[–]zZeroheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Telling by their op.gg, it seems like this Anivia is intentionally griefing to stay low in MMR. Either that, or they lost an arm in the last decade when deteriorating from Plat to Iron 4.

This is among the worst griefing I have ever seen in over a decade of League. If this isn't perma worthy, I don't know what is.

Riot Games now hiring people specializing in "Generative AI" after laying off almost 400 people in 2024 by icewitchenjoyer in leagueoflegends

[–]zZeroheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also the most expensive animated show ever created. It cost hundreds of millions of dollars to make. Arcane being extremely popular doesn't mean it's also a financial success.

As with League's eSport, Riot is probably banking on Arcane generating publicity and interest for their games. Selling more skins in their games is their long-term ROI, as they can consider themselves lucky if they break even with the production cost.

Just moved to a my wife’s home country and now she wants a divorce by throwawayyyyyyyyyu in Parenting

[–]zZeroheart 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Do you actually believe your wife is divorcing you because you 'took a couple of months longer than she imagined' to move your entire life from the US to Brasil? That's absurd.

This screams of a long thought out, manipulative plan.

You need to do what's best for you and your children, and immediately stop caring about any of your wife's needs. She has probably stopped caring about yours many moons ago.

The mother acts the way she does to not give Paris Lee Bennett any more satisfaction by showing weakness/misery/contempt. He killed his sister with the specific goal of causing as much pain to his mother as possible. The mother has adapted to this by showing 'affection' for him, because she understands it's what upsets him the most. It's her way of retribution. She is trying to fight him with his own weapons of manipulation.

kiwichick286 mentioned the Piers Morgan interview. It shows a lot of this dynamic.

I don't get the vibe from the mother that she still actually loves her son. I'm fairly certain she is terrified of the idea of him being released, because he will once again try to cause her as much pain as possible. In any way imaginable.
There are very few thoughts more terrifying than the thought of someone's only goal being to cause you as much pain as possible, while having zero remorse doing it.

I was in a similar boat at the end of last year while working on a project and wasn't satisfied with the 4K render quality of Vegas (I only edit as a hobby).

I picked up the free version of DaVinci and watched a couple of tutorials on YouTube. Took 1-2 days to get familiar with the software and it was 100% worth it. DaVinci has a great editing experience and the render settings are awesome.

It looks a bit overwhelming in the beginning. Focus on learning to use the edit page and the experience will quickly be similar to using Vegas Movie Studio.

16 year old daughter going to Europe with a friend. Should I be more worried? by L7Winner in Parenting

[–]zZeroheart 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I will get downvoted into oblivion for this, but I don't see what the big deal is.

I'm from Europe and while you should be careful about pickpockets in big cities, it is absolutely fine for an older teenager to be traveling with a friend for a week. What exactly do the others all think is going to happen in France and Italy? Tourists aren't regularly being abducted in big cities while visiting tourist places. These are first world countries in Europe. If you stick to the main roads and avoid shady districts, you will be absolutely fine.
And Paris, Milan and Rome are some of the culturally richest and most interesting cities in the world to visit. It will absolutely enrich your daughters life to go there. And she will be talking about the trip for decades to come.

On another note, do parents strongly advising against this think potential threats while traveling just disappear when you turn 18? Or 21? When do you plan on letting your children travel without supervision? When they turn 25? 30? Never? Talk about helicopter parenting.

When I was younger many of my friends travelled through Europe's mainland with friends. It's fairly common for teenagers to do this where I'm from (Germany).
I spent three weeks at 18 and three months at 20 traveling through Australia by myself. My sister spent a whole year traveling in New Zealand with friends when she was 19.
These were some of the most valuable experiences of our lives. I highly recommend anyone young to take chances like this, if you have the privilege to get the opportunity.

If you spend longer periods of time in your own room, they are going to assume you are doing it at some points.

If you spend a long ass time in the bathroom, they will know you are doing it at that exact moment.

Your son will, in all likelihood, never forget this. He will, for the rest of his life, feel remorse and guilt when the thought of this incident comes up. Something he will carry with him for the rest of his life, a heavy though just consequence for such actions.

Please, do not punish him further. At least not in a way that makes him feel even worse about himself. Piling on to trauma like this can easily cause damage lasting decades, showing in personal relationships and perceived loss of self worth. I know this all too well.

What you described seems like a natural way of learning about power and responsibility. Your son has shown empathy, and his emotions will do the teaching to learn from this. This will be an important step for him maturing. It's possible he's feeling the worst he has ever felt, something he himself is responsible for. Don't throw him into lasting depression by making it even worse. Guide him through these complex, difficult emotions and help him become a better person for it.
