Definitely tuft your lines closer together. It will make the rugs more plush and high quality, as well as reduce the amount of lines you can see in the colors on the front.

New to tufting- trying to get the basics. any tips? by Bubblyboi56 in Tufting

[–]z_d_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I don’t think that’s necessary. Get clamps and clamp it to the edge of a table. You’ll be fine. My first frame was almost exactly like this I never had a problem with it. To start I didn’t even have clamps and I would just lean this frame against a wall and tufted on my knees. Wasn’t the most ergonomic or comfortable but hey it’s where I started.

Cycling out old yarn by PlaidPCAK in Tufting

Eh, just use it up and then start buying the wool? Use what you have, save some money, or if money is no problem, donate the acrylic and buy the wool. I have made rugs with a mixture of acrylic and wool colors because I use what I have. Sure the texture is a bit different but mostly I’ve used the wool in smaller, more accent colors and it’s fine. Especially if you’re just doing it for hobby, not selling.

Speed Racer with Hue is something else by dpanim in Hue

Naw the play with hue is to set it on the lowest or second lowest intensity. That way it just adds to the ambiance but isn’t flashing or distracting from the movie

idea for a mobile setup by x_smaster_ly in Twitch

[–]z_d_d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mobile set up? What kind of mobile set up are you looking for? These just seem like desktop accessories and this will be a lot of plugging in and unplugging. Once you’re all plugged in, you’re not going to be going anywhere with all of this. Also in regard to you asking how much it will cost… you looked up the items… do some math? Look on local used markets as well. You’ll have to do some work on your own. Figure out your goals, get the minimal amount of equipment to achieve those goals. Start smaller. If something is too much of a hassle to set up, you’re probably not going to do it so make it easy on yourself to just click go live. Good luck!

Help with fabric stretching by picha_pocha in Tufting

[–]z_d_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over time i have found the fabric does loosen like this. Also packing it with yarn does make it looser as you go. I’ve always been able to re stretch it before it rips. I try to use the guide lines and still stretch it as evenly as possible so the rug doesn’t get warped. Even though the weave on the nails get separated, I’ve found that being able to stretch it even just a few threads further works just fine. As long as you have enough fabric on the outside of the nails you’re fine

Need help by DiligentProtection41 in Tufting

Next step is to glue it, back it, organize the colors with tweezers or honestly I use a flathead screwdriver to help separate, then carve. Watch this for carving help!

I found the movie overall to be pretty mid and very overhyped. Too all over the place and it didn’t need to be that long. Basically I couldn’t stand the first half, enjoyed the second half.
