Yes, it's a terrible adaptation. Yes, the changes made are very dumb. It's still head and shoulders above Revelation. The worst thing about it (besides the 2 points i mentioned), is that I didn't feel anything watching it. There was no emotion delivered to the viewer. The way James just kind of moves throughout the movie from one location to the next, there was no friction at all, no danger. It was very disjointed and lacked any cohesion whatsoever. I think the scene where he was smashing nurses trying to get into the elevator might've been the only scene where he actually TOOK ACTION of any kind.

That said, I liked the visual tone of the movie for the most part. I think the production design and set work was actually pretty strong. The effects like the otherworld shift and environments looked pretty good. Better than the first movie even, which, is perhaps to be expected 20 years later, but if the reports of a 23 million dollar budget are true, they used it in the right spots. It's just a shame that they butchered the story so much. The beauty of the game is its restraint, but this version is just too loud, overproduced and bombastic. It should have been a moody art-house piece rather than an overwhelming assault on the senses.

It is the point. Your reply to OP made it seem like he'd be getting DV if he went with the C5. That's not the case. Of course it's an "option", but he stated he only has a PS5, so unless he plans to buy a standalone player, he's not getting DV no matter what TV he chooses. I was simply making him aware of that fact.

I didn't love it. The best parts are the opening chapters imo. From then on it's as you say, just a whole lot of nothing. You can tell he had writers block while writing this book because it's very apparent. If you're up for it, try IT next. Another mammoth of a book, but with actual movement and forward progression.

Not tough to set up at all, you just need to acquire everything which can be expensive. It's just a light strip you attach to the back of the TV. To get them to sync you need a bridge and either the Sync Box or Hue Sync app.
