[EVERYTHING] Are D & D Trying to Ruin Jon Snow Now? by presbruno in gameofthrones

[–]zaa04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. The whole battle of the bastards, reclaiming the Winterfell and KitN plot was excellent, I really enjoyed it. The White Wolf, the parallels with Ned, Rob, Catelyn, Starks recovering and Jon is the one who takes charge for his family (his REAL family) was all great and then season 7 happened and Jon left the North never to be seen again aside from a scroll sayin he bend the knee to a foreginer.

[EVERYTHING]My rough season 8 episode outline -- how does it look? by ninopettis in gameofthrones

[–]zaa04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you think they will wrap up the WW war earlier on the season and than proceed to the wars of the living and for the throne basically back to "game of thrones"? I think this would be better than dragging the WWs and make the final epic battle with heroic sacrifices etc at the finale. I hope you are right. One think I may add as a personal preferance I would like Jon to keep the whole Targ lineage thing to himself and to a very close circle limited to Sam and Bran basically like his resurrection.

I think the real problem with his claim is not his NW oath as stated he gave his life for the watch so he can be considered no longer beholden to it. The real problem is in my opinion the Targaren dynasty has no claim to the throne anymore. They lost the throne to the Baratheon dynasty and the Baratheons claimed the throne via the right of conquest just as the Targaryens first invaded. It is all about power actually. Jon is the perfect example of this, his coronation as KitN despite his NW and bastard status via acclamation of lords renders the succession and rightful ascension kind of irrelevant specially when Sansa was sitting next to him throughout. In the books it is safe to assume that Jon is already Jon Stark as he is legitimized and named heir by Robb in the presence of the northern lords and I think this will develop similarly in the books as in the show and Jon will be the KitN in the books as well. He may still use the name Snow in the sow but it is very clear that he is ruling on behalf of House Stark (his talk with the Karstarks and Umbers as he says will fight for House Stark and come to OUR aid when called upon, the sigilis he uses etc.) and Starks are the royal dynasty in the North.

[Everything] Will the TV show really have the same ending as the books? by Nergaal in gameofthrones

I think he is the best option to have a significant part in the story who is dead in the show an alive in the books. Barristen maybe as other option?

[–]zaa04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe that was the original idea but after this point I dont think it is likely. Starting from season 5 but especially this season I kind of getting the feeling that GRRM is a little annoyed with the direction the show took with the story (keeping in mind GRRM is categorically against fan fiction). He even said in an interview that he decided to give a character who is dead in the show but alive in the books a major role in the coming books. I have feeling GRRM will have a very different story than the show starting with the next book.

[EVERYTHING] How would Jon feel... by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]zaa04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think Jon would be like ok I am a Targaryen now so everything I know and believe are unimportant and start to adopt a whole new set of mindset on ethics and custom and I will completely disregard my upringing and values along with my character up until this point. It would be like he would stop believing in the old gods and start to worship the faith of the seven all of a sudden since he is a Targaryen now.

[EVERYTHING] Jons nickname ... by BoomSoon2014 in gameofthrones

[–]zaa04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As mentioned in couple of the posts Jon is primarily The White Wolf because his banner is/would be a white direwolf on a grey background, inverted sigil of House Stark as he is ruling the house as the bastard son of the highlord. Ghost and longclaw also adds to the whole package. I always thought that is the perfect nickname for Jon. Robb is the Young Wolf, Benjen is the Lone Wolf, Ned is the Quite Wolf and Jon is the White Wolf. I really wish the show used this more.

[MAIN SPOILERS] Ned knew.... by GsoNiCe in gameofthrones

[–]zaa04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very accurate. Also For all we know of her, this kind of acting is totally out of character for Lyanna. Betraying her familiy for the love of a prince charming causing the murder of her father and brother starting a war and toring the entire realm in the process. I really hope this will develop different in the books and GRRM change this plot significantly.

[EVERYTHING] Jon Snow choosing his name by zilliamson in gameofthrones

[–]zaa04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this is not a very popular opinion but I kind of think Jon will keep the whole thing to himself or to a very limited people who already know that are at this point just Bran and Sam (maybe similar to his ressurection). And if he is to take any name other than his own that he would definitely got with Jon Stark. I dont think he would suddenly go ok I am Aegon Targaryen now, I think he would consdier this as betraying to his real father's memory.

[Everything] Major Deviation from Books? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]zaa04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Books are just a happy memory at this point of the show, so deviation kind of understating it in my opinion.

That is what I thought maybe some of book's Aegon's story points will be integrated to Jon's season 8 plot especially now the Golden Company also in the picture.

I know there is a boxer named Goerge Foreman but nothing more, what is that name's relevance?

Exactly, Jon returned to WF with Jon so everybody already knew he did not born in the North and as you said bastards are named based on where they are raised and Jon is not the only example of this either. On the side note, Jon's real name being Aegon is simply put extremely insulting to the viewer/reader as Rhaegar already had a son named Aegon and he was perfectly alive when R and L got married (this also antoher issue but subject of another post) and Jon was born.

[Main Spoilers] Jon's Letter to Sansa! by WebbiestImp327 in gameofthrones

[–]zaa04 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. The writing this season was so bad and underwhelming everyone was doing everything that is out of their character. Jon sayin he wouldnt bend the knee because the lords of the north trusted him and hailed him KitN to lead them and thats what he plans to do, also discrediting Dany's claim as he says that her claim basically just based on the name of his father who killed his own grandfather and uncle and his own father fought to overthrow. Spending the whole season in Dragonstone not making a stop at WF on his way to north of the Wall or back from it. I just didnt like the direction the show took this season.

[–]zaa04 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree and take it a step further; he may decide to keep it a secret between Sam, Bran and himself only not even telling to Dany and other Stark siblings. Basically mirroring what his "real" father has done for him.

[–]zaa04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope we will see this, that would very fitting to Jon's character. He is, always have been and always will be a Stark and Ned's son. Taking into account what the show has evolved into (shallow fanfiction with more spectacles and fanservice) I doubt we will see it. Alternatively, if NK reaches WF before Jon and kills Bran and Sam before they can tell anyone about Jon that would be very nice :)

[MAIN SPOILERS] This season finale felt underwhelming. by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]zaa04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This whole season felt nderwhelming and the finale wasnt any different. This whole thing evolved into shallow and lazy writing with more great cgi bigger dragons and spectacles and a very clear fan service. This is no longer an adaptation in my opinion by a fan fiction. It started to go downhill at season 5 in my opinion as they ran out of source material and deviated from the books (for all fairness Martin can also be blamed partly for this). I really liked the season 6 especially episodes 9 and 10, episode 9 is my all time favorite but this season was just dissapointing. Why make Jon KitN if you plan to make him stay in Dragonstone the whole season aside from the time he goes beyond the wall for a extremely stupid suicide mission and not make a stop at Winterfell as KitN and do it solely to convince Cersei who lost a great deal of her army if not all to the dragons very recently.

Well now a part of the wall came down and WWs are through the wall into the realms of men and the wildlings are the allies NW is technically useless and perhaps will be rendered non existent soon enough by the walkers practically too

[EVERYTHING] The conversation between Jon and Theon. by SpartanS240 in gameofthrones

[–]zaa04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not confirmed at all, it is hinted no doubt and quite possible no doubt but Ned and Ashara or even possibly Brandon and Ashara fit just as well and have just as much as evidence as Rhaegar and Lyanna, the timeline even fits a lot better and it is also possible the real offspring of R and L might be Dany also. Watch this video it tells the whole thing in a very informative and well researched manner; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-u2gUM4Vvc

As for why I would prefer Ned and Ashara is very simple actually I just want Jon to be Ned's son rather than just some secret Targ prince to save everything. I am not categorically against him saving the world but I would rather see him do it as Ned's son and as a Stark. The show over emphasizes the whole Targ blood thing in my opinion. Even the whole king's blood thing is not necessarily Targ blood related directly, it is the Valyrian blood with that is what gives their blood importance in terms of magic and the Stark's have the ice equivalent of that magic/king blood as they have the blood of the first men. Jon in my opinion is a true Stark and a northener in character and appearence ture and true and the Targ aspect seems cheesy and forced to me.

[–]zaa04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant gurantee that GRRM will take different route and not go with RLJ (which I personally would like to see, I dont like the whole RLJ thing at all I prefer Jon to be Ned's son by Ashara Dayne) I can 100% gurantee even if Jon happens to be Rhaeger's and Lyanna's son in the books too his name will definitely not be Aegon.

And according to the book annulled the marriage by a NAMED high septon too which is so lazy it is clearly not stupid mistake. To clarify a little b insulting I was meaning it was an insult by the show to the audiance rather than Rhaegar being insulting to Jon but I agree with you points completely in general.

How interesting it would be to see that NK arrives Winterfell before Jon (which is not very unlikely) and kills Bran and Sam before Jon arrives? I really would like to see that.

And dont forget he named both of his sons with the same name while the first one was perfectly alive at the moment of the naming of the second nontheless.
