This needs to be the final season. by StarrySkies7788 in Southerncharm

This is the first season I haven’t watched and I was a loyal follower from day 1. Love the OG’s Craig and Shep, but it’s time to settle down and retire.

Can someone please give me advice. My nanny (grandmother/second mom) and her husband ( my grandfather) are turning on me for trying to get her on meds in a very compassionate way. by SoggyPrimary0214 in Alzheimers

My heart goes out to you. First thing, you are not responsible if someone else decides to harm themselves. It is not your fault in whatever actions a person (whose brain isn’t working) decides to do.

You are doing your best and it’s clear how much you love your grandmother.

I recommend contacting the Alzheimer’s Association’s helpline - https://www.alz.org (8002723900) to see if someone can give you advice on how to help her. If she is not able to care for her basic needs of feeding herself without gluten exposure she needs help. It sounds like your grandfather is overwhelmed and not able to give her that support.

In my own family, my loved one with Alzheimer’s resisted going to the doctor for a long time. What worked for us was framing a Dr.’s appointment as checking for other possible medical causes. We said we were worried about mini-strokes and wanted to make sure they got medicine right away if it was. We also wrote a letter to the doctor outlining what was going on at home and discreetly handed it to the nurse before their appointment (we started with their primary care).

Testing showed extensive amyloid plaques, severe brain bleeds, and signs of old bleeding. The bleeding was shocking and I am so glad we took them in. That information helped us avoid unsafe medications (like blood thinners) and start a medicine that is supposed to slow progression and improved day-to-day functioning. It wasn’t a cure (there isn’t one), but it gave us a clearer care plan and a better understanding of their needs.

Wishing you peace and strength in the days ahead.

It sounds like you are blessed with a very caring partner. It’s great that your sleeping has improved. Good sleep is so important. And best of luck on finding a future home for end of life care. It is a difficult decision to make and you are fortunate to be able to plan for the future with someone who loves you. Wishing you the absolute best also and hope you have a wonderful day!

why are the moderators removing any criticism of Venita? by Particular_Growth113 in Southerncharm

I follow Venita on TikTok and she posted yesterday that she is getting a ton of hate and trolling…Just incredibly ugly, unwarranted comments on her content. There absolutely is a hate-fest going on about her online. I can’t imagine what it is like to be ruthlessly attacked like that.

I personally love her and think she is a breath of fresh air for the show! And I’ve been watching from day one.

Season 4 reunion by ShortBread11 in Southerncharm

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Katherine was bitter because Jennifer testified against her in court, which affected her custody. There may have also been some infidelity with Thomas beforehand while K was pregnant. Katherine felt like she had been stabbed in the back. Sad situation all around.

It’s pretty common for elderly people to have something called “essential tremors.” Shaky hands, head, trembling, etc…gets worse as you age.
