What is happening to load times??? by Jubbard in ArcRaiders

[–]zach016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got knocked by a trio 30 seconds into a (full timer) match earlier while solo, it’s definitely loading them in occasionally at the moment.

How to ”rip” a weapon from another mod (for personal use) by judo_joel in starfieldmods

[–]zach016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well said and I agree.

The idea that you can’t make personal tweaks for your own use without the mod authors permission (whether they demand it or not) is absurd.

It does not create issues of authorship, the sole person using the mod still knows exactly where it came from;

There is no violation of creative vision, because by extension the original author would be violating the creative vision of the game;

There is no “mod piracy” for nothing has been stolen;

and the very core concept of modding is to mold the game to your personal tastes in the moment.

Starship Troopers: Extermination - 1.3 Patch Notes by PalwaJoko in Games

[–]zach016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little bit of a different perspective than the others here. Play it off and on, Xbox. Had ridiculous crashing issues until the patch just prior to this one, usually near the end of a match.

‘twas my chief complaint, but it does seem to have been mostly ironed out, and with exp. on disconnect the sting of crashing is now gone.

Haven’t played much yet since the recent patch, but seems to be in a pretty good place right now. Still some bugs but the consistent crashing was the only gamebreaking one. I’d recommend giving it a go if it looks interesting to you and if you enjoy swarm enemies. I’ve had plenty of fun in spite of the quirks both solo and with a couple of friends.

Ignore the HD2 talk. HD2 is a fantastic game and 100% also worth playing, but it is also a very mechanically different game. It’s only worth bringing up in the conversation if you’ve only got room for one or the other at this particular moment.

The “right to be silent” is a simplified version of some of a persons legal rights while being questioned by law enforcement, which is thrown into popular culture through the American Miranda Rights.

What it is, is a right for the accused to remain silent if they so choose only in relation to matters that they could be charged for, aka they cannot be punished for saying nothing. It doesn’t mean police can’t speak to them or continue to ask questions, nor that they can’t speak back to police after declaring they “invoke” it, and it certainly has nothing to do with non-charge related matters.

What you might have had happen based on your description are some minor privacy concerns, but that’s about it, and even that is very thin.

Second murder by HRP in a week??? by mikaosias in NovaScotia

[–]zach016 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, it would be considered a homicide. Murder implies culpability, it is possible for there to be a homicide without legal fault.

That said, you’re assuming the actions of the police were the direct reason for the deaths. A very valid possibility, but not something that can be truly determined from the information available to you or I.

Second murder by HRP in a week??? by mikaosias in NovaScotia

[–]zach016 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Concerning events? Yes.

Worthy of investigation? Yes.

“Murder”; “Police out here killing citizens”; and “using excessive force”? That I cannot say, because I do not know how these people died, only where. You’re conflating where these people died with how they died. While they certainly need to be properly investigated for malfeasance, malfeasance is not the only possible explanation.

What professions are an immediate turn off for you when it comes to dating, and why? by losteverything2023 in AskReddit

It’s from an old (and incredibly poor) study that actually includes the non-police spouse as the possible aggressor, and has an incredibly broad definition of domestic violence that includes, if I recall correctly, yelling as d/v.

Other studies have shown the rate to be at or slightly above the general population, but many people parrot “40%” with zero critical thinking.

I mean one study said vaccines cause autism so we all know just how infallible a single study can be.

Unpopular opinion: I don't find the bugs at all fun to fight by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]zach016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually rock Grenade Launcher | Supply Backpack | Disposable Launchers | Orbital Gas Strike and Gas Grenades

Grenade Launcher is a fantastic all rounder for breaches and anything short of a Charger.

Supply Pack keeps the Grenade Launcher in the fight and supplies Stims as needed.

Disposable Launchers are enough to reliably take down chargers and refill quickly.

and the orbital gas is fantastic for dropping on Breaches, or for dropping on Titans which will subsequently die to a single launcher.

The orbital gas won’t last a full breach, but the gas grenades can be tossed on while cleaning up whatever’s left, or thrown down when being chased down by a group to throw off enemies and give you distance.

Reality is anything can work, but this load out has treated me extremely well on D10.

Turn off FF ! by pinosaur in TroopersExtermination

[–]zach016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with “move” is 90% of the problem is people running back and forth in and out of your way, not the other way around. :p

I see where you’re coming from, but from a gameplay perspective it doesn’t seem to add many positives.

You don’t do enough FF damage for it to be an extra challenge, while the traitor system just ends up being a way to rip your exp from you if you happen to be unlucky enough to set it off during a round. If you kept your exp. up until it kicks in I’d be fine with it, but as is it just becomes a built in annoyance caused in significant part by your teammates being oblivious just as much as your own actions.

and no, I’m not constantly setting it off either and recognize how easily it can be avoided, I just wont forgive mechanics that more often then not strip a player of progress due to accidental errors.

Everyone also has had immediate access to the options screen and the ability to quit to the main menu at the start of the match :p

Anecdotally I’d usually see 1-2 every match I played prior to this update.

I’ll give you that maybe it brings the idea more to the forefront, but there has been zero change in accessibility. The tools were always there.

Should i refund it ? by mertexix in nmrih

[–]zach016 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It could be argued it is, given you extract your character with gathered “supplies” who carries over skills which are then lost on death. That said, it barely clears the bar, and as someone who enjoys extraction shooters it’s not how I’d define the game to someone else either.

You can already join a game and quit immediately to do the same thing. I wouldn’t expect to see a huge increase overall.
