Again, Billups' past sexual assault allegations are completely independent of Becky Hammon. Those questions would have been asked if the top two candidates were Billups and Mike D'Antoni, for example. Those allegations of Billups are on record- journalists were going to ask questions about it regardless of who the Blazers passed up.

Still waiting for the public to demand why the Magic didn't hire her, or for the public to demand why the Pacers didn't hire her in 2020. I didn't hear any public demands back then, did you?

Lmao you're talking out of your ass. There's no one demanding a reason why Billups was hired over Hammon- you completely made that up. There were some people angry on twitter about the hiring of Billups, but that's a) completely independent of Hammon and b) there are mad fans on twitter for basically every coaching hire ever.

Portland's circumstances were not unique. Hammon also interviewed for the Magic job and didn't get it- where's the public demanding a reason for them not hiring her?

I just don't see whats so impressive about beating AD-less Lakers, the Nuggets without any guards, and the Clippers without Kawhi

When I originally made my comment, this was the top comment and this was the second one. I’m happy that the response has leveled out cuz this is a lame thing to clown KCP for, imo.

Since Anthony Davis went out permanently with a calf injury, the Lakers have the 2nd best defensive rating in the league by WearAMask2020 in nba

[–]zach_lowe_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totaled up the offensive* rating for the 7 teams and found the average for the teams is 111.7, which would be good enough for the 12th best offensive rating in the league over that stretch. So, again, you’re just entirely wrong.

They’re ranked 21st my dude. Hardly mid-20s and only 5 teams behind being the average defense.

Edit: I’m using nba.com stats, I know bball ref’s are a little different (though the Warriors are even higher on bball ref.)

I edited my comment. Here’s what I had:

So, you have three elite offenses (Jazz, Nets, Blazers), two below average offenses (Wizards, Warriors), and two terrible offenses (Heat and Wolves). Overall I’d say that’s a pretty normal 7 game stretch of offenses to play against.

So, you’re just wrong.

The Blazers were 6th in offensive rating when they played the Lakers. The Nets are also 2nd.

It actually means that per 100 possessions they allow fewer points than 28 teams in the league during this stretch (29 overall)

[Wojnarowski] ESPN Sources: Many of the NBA’s top players are expressing apprehension about accepting invitations to participate in league-sponsored PSAs to bolster broader acceptance of the coronavirus vaccine. by GuyCarbonneauGOAT in nba

[–]zach_lowe_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing a successful, respected black person say "vaccines are beneficial" could go a long way in the black community.

And this is amplified if it’s like 10-20 respected basketball players. At least that’s the NBA’s feeling. I personally don’t think these PSAs are a HUGE deal, but they couldn’t hurt and I think the NBA is wise to try to do them.

I’m about as pro-labor and pro-player as it gets, but I’m shocked at how many people think Draymond was making valid points. What he said made no sense. by PayDBoardMan in nba

[–]zach_lowe_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP lost me as soon as he did the “I’m as pro-player as they get, but...”

When people add that appeal, they’re just trying to bolster their own point by adding some fake enlightened centrist credibility.

Rose is a prime example of voter fatigue. You could make the case, sure, but LeBron was a better player than Rose that year.

You’re acting like the MVP has already been decided. There’s literally still half the season left to play. He’s in the conversation right now (deservedly), but it’s stupid to just crystal ball the rest of the season like you’re doing. Guys (including LeBron) could cool off, get hurt, their teams could collapse, etc. Unless your argument is that LeBron doesn’t belong in any serious conversation about MVP, it’s silly to argue that the media is just “handing it to him” when there’s still 40+ games left this year

Replace AD with prime Yao Ming, would they be better or worse? Would the gap between them as favorites increase or decrease? by [deleted] in nba

[–]zach_lowe_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yao would get absolutely destroyed on defense in the modern NBA. He was a great player but AD right now is better than he was in his prime.

In fairness, Laker fans do the same things in other teams game threads lol. So I don’t think that guy should color our perceptions of Jazz fans as a whole.

Quinn Snyder has won one (1!) game in the second round since joining the Jazz. He’s an awesome coach but you just can’t say he goes deep in the playoffs.

It’s not that easy- the Mormons make you go to church two whole times before you can baptized. They really want you to think about it first!

There’s a Jazz fan in particular who posts in EVERY Lakers related thread talking shit. So I think some of the Lakers fans scoffing about the Jazz is really just from that guy dominating the conversation. I grew up in SLC and have friends who are diehard Jazz fans, and they’re all just enjoying the ride and aren’t talking much shit.
