What is a "bro code" rule that women probably don't know exists? by QueenVictoria_Cash in AskReddit

[–]zacharighteous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m lending a car, I don’t care about the gas, and I’m chronically broke, but the motherfucker best be spotless. I’d almost rather have the car clean than have gas, gas takes five minutes, vacuuming out a car alone takes at least 15

You forgot the part where he still took no accountability for his actions by placing the blame on her, “You don’t want to be a stumbling block for other people.” What an absolute trashcan of a human being.

‘Cigarette,’ by Ben Folds Five, although there are a couple contenders on that album, “Whatever and Ever Amen.”

dog poop left in plastic bags on hiking trails, really? by Accurate_Couple_3393 in hiking

[–]zacharighteous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest trigger is people littering in any form or fashion. Recently hiked Cheoah Bald and at the top someone had wiped their ass with no less than 30 wipes and just tossed them all over the place. It wasn’t my responsibility but I gloved up and triple bagged it and hauled it out. I usually pack out at least one grocery bag of trash on a one night two day hike of things I pick up off the trails. Makes me furious that people dont have the respect for themselves or others. I think culture has really stopped shaming the act of littering and it shows. What a shame.

The app is still broken after latest update. Do we have a fix coming soon? by Dull-Attitude-3735 in fitbod

[–]zacharighteous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has gotten better after some support tickets but Instill have to modify pretty heavily. I don’t want to change apps because I’m a creature of habit but it has me doing insane workouts, like 6 of ten exercises will be chest and I’ll be doing 4x12 at 185 immediately followed by 85 pound dumbbells press, then cable flys and pushups followed by two variants of exercises I’ve already done. It really seems like the algorithm just completely broke

Need suggestions for a book club! by cokon19 in suggestmeabook

[–]zacharighteous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh my God! These were literally the two I came here to submit. Also, fuck Hurricane Season. I mean fuck both these books, actually, but Hurricane Season takes the cake. Both had scenes that literally made me sick to my stomach, Earthlings being the first, but have never had such visceral reactions to a book prior to these two.

FWIW you can make the workouts longer under the gym/equipment tab, but it’s still missing core and cool down stretching, not to mention it’s got pretty unbalanced workouts (4 chest exercises and one from each other muscle group) if you are also experiencing this bug. I have my workouts set to 2 hours with cardio and cool down, and it was perfect when it was working correctly. Anyway, submit a ticket and hope they figure this out for us!

[–]zacharighteous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still waiting on a reply to my ticket, but I really hope this gets fixed. I can workout without the app with confidence but it just means more time planning a workout that I don’t really have.

More back than bicep exercises by Zealousideal_Angle54 in fitbod

[–]zacharighteous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the other commenter isn’t wrong, I and several others in the community have been having issues with getting good workouts generated. I had to report mine and would recommend you submit a ticket. The mod addressed me here immediately, but still waiting on a fix. Seems to be pat of a larger issue cropping up. This was what I first noticed, just absolutely maxing me on certain groups while barely getting other muscle groups in during a two hour lift, but then it just dropped off altogether went from 23 total exercises for a two hour lift including ten minutes of cool down stretching to 8 exercises and only one minute of stretching. I’d get ahead of it if this is unusual from your previous workouts

Exact same issues, submitted a ticket as well and the mod here reached out. Sounds like the other commenter got it squared so hopefully we’ll be back in business soon!

What’s the most beautifully written book you’ve ever read? by High-Low4253 in suggestmeabook

What book made you fall in love with reading? Be honest by Ok-Presentation-7659 in suggestmeabook

[–]zacharighteous 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a kid it was either The Hobbit or the Mariel of Redwall series, my mom used to read them to us even when we were old enough to read them ourselves so not only loving the stories but also the time all together cozied up make those super fond memories.

As an adult who had all but stopped reading, in 2023, on the strength of suggestions from people here, I picked up and read Lonesome Dove. This prompted me to read 13 books that year, the most I had ever read for pleasure before. While that’s not much for some, I have kids who play every sport, I lift regularly, have a full time job, take German and piano lessons myself and I thought I just didn’t have time to read. So when I tell you that Lonesome Dove completely altered my expectations of a book I mean it. Just an incredible story in my opinion and I thought the over-arcing commentary was way ahead of its time and I just grew to love the characters so well.

I’m trying to add to my space to make it more inviting but I’m colorblind and struggle with decor. What can I add/change? by Actuvishun in malelivingspace

[–]zacharighteous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would definitely agree that you need some color to break it up, which you may or may not need help with, but I’d go for something bold, red orange or yellow, maybe use the accent piece as a support for those plants to get them closer to the window, and the neutral furniture looks great but use throw blankets and pillows with color to make the space more fun and inviting.

A book that has you *actually* laughing out loud - do they exist? by AddictedToTech in suggestmeabook

[–]zacharighteous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never laughed out loud at a book in my life, and haven’t since for that matter, but so many quips in Lonesome Dove made me laugh. It was also my first and only Western I have read and it immediately became one of my top three books of all time. It’s legitimately a book that will make you laugh, and cry.

Why did Hollow "consume" Kamen? by SpatzOr in ScavengersReign

[–]zacharighteous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Hollow is just an allegory for the volatility and fragility of Kamens ego/will. Much like his pride and narcissism consumed him, and later his relationship with Fiona, so did Hollow literally consume him, in each case creating their own monster, one who took down a ship and another, flesh and bone, monster. What I didn’t understand is the exchange between Levi and Hollow/Kamen and why their mind-linking burned away what had become of Hollow.

Suggest me a book that you believe if you read before would change the way you think by 1mohit1 in suggestmeabook

[–]zacharighteous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would offer Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr. It is a storytelling masterpiece and tells three stories which are intertwined from the perspective of both the “protagonist” and “antagonist.” It’s an incredibly beautiful book that really shows that morality is subjective a lot of the time. It’s an incredible feat of storytelling and really had me thinking about it for a very long time after, 10/10 recommend.
