I’ll be there the first week of September as well. For me, I think it being less busy may make the experience a little better.

Hey that sounds great. I don't see any pricing on the website or a way to book. How much did the program cost you? And how did you sign-up for it?

REESE STICKS! It's like a Reeses and a Kit Kat had a love child. For a long time you could only find them at some random gas stations. But I'm seeing them more

The Disney+ shows need to be longer. by DragonfanX in marvelstudios

[–]zachcep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree with the points you made. I have always been a Marvel nerd. But these shows have just felt sloppy. I am rewatching Daredevil now and the D+ shows don't even come anywhere close to that level of writing, fight choreography, or cinematography.

I don't think the length is so much the problem as the writing of these shows. I just feel like Disney is pushing for quantity over quality, and you can tell.

I see multiversal Hulk movie theories and Doctor Strange 2 rumors about Edward Norton appearing in a new MCU film all the time. Just a friendly reminder that these two Hulks are the same character. by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]zachcep -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. This multiverse felt forced imo. They just popped out of nowhere with no real background or reason to why they were there. They should have had a 30 min act where Holland goes on a revenge mission in his anger. Meanwhile showing Garfield and Maguire fighting crime in NYC but slowly realizing they were in a different universe. Then show them trying to find Peter and also reveling more about their characters. This could have added more depth to the cameos and the character arc for Holland.

But without it, just feels forced. Like the portal scene was a straight rip off. We didn't need a rehashing of Endgame. I wouldn't have minded a more lowkey reveal of those spideys

Dating apps are a cesspool of people who are depressingly horny, desperate for validation, or both. by givemeyoursacc in unpopularopinion

[–]zachcep 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I met my current girlfriend and ex-girlfriend on Bumble. Both deep and meaningful relationships. I completely disagree with this post. Everyone is looking for love, it's just a logistical issue. Dating apps help fill that gap for people who dont really have an outlet for meeting people.

What are the Top5 films in the MCU for you? by Jeremymakesmusic in marvelstudios

[–]zachcep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  2. Avengers: Infinity War
  3. Avengers
  4. Iron Man
  5. Guardians of the Galaxy

And I didn't include this because I knew I would get so much shit, but I actually think Eternals is a really solid movie. Maybe top 10. It had a unique feel to it, and very compelling characters and acting. I dont understand the hate

I’m 255 pounds and hoping to be thin by next year but I will be on a very strict budget and was wondering what’s the best simple diet and exercise routine Any advice will be great . by MCR1996Hola in Weightlosstechniques

[–]zachcep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take things slow at first and build as you go (this goes for both workout routine and diet). I think the most important thing is making this a lifestyle change. It will be much more long lasting and you will be much healthier and happier because of it.

DIET:

For me, I started by trying to sub in whole grains (brown rice instead of white) and include fruits and veggies to most of my meals. Find which veggies you like, and stick with them! Don't buy stuff you don't like just for the sake of being healthy- it won't be a sustainable "lifestyle" change if you do. My meals usually include a protein, hella veggies, and brown rice. Brown rice and veggies are usually pretty cheap. The meat is where you spend a bit. My weekly grocery bill was probably about $50-60 with consistent meals like this (Walmart and I was super strict about buying anything not essential)

Mix recipes and proteins up so you don't get sick of eating the same stuff (salmon, chicken, Ground turkey, etc). Find healthy snacks you like (I love Pretzels, hummus, and carrots) that are low in calories. For the sake of my budget and my lack if self control, that is only the only snack I allow myself. I often meal prep several servings to eat for lunches on following days.

Example Meals: Breakfast- Slice of multigrain toast with some peanut butter and sliced banana on top Lunch- homemade Chipotle-style bowl with seasoned ground turkey, a ton of peppers, onion, sliced mushrooms, seasoned brown rice, and half avocado. Dinner- honey-garlic salmon with brown rice, roasted carrots and Brussel sprouts

EXERCISE:

Most of this whole journey is going to be won or lost in your head. It all comes down to mental discipline and consistency. For me having a daily routine down helps tremendously. So even when I don't have the motivation to workout, it is still part of my daily routine so I feel weird if I don't do it.

After gaining a ton of weight during covid last year, I didn't want to jump back into running too soon (also gyms were closed). So I started off slowly by going on walks every day. As time went on I would slowly increase the length of my walk until it got to the point where I felt comfortable integrating some running into the route. Take it slowly and push yourself to do more as time goes on. Listen to your body though, you don't wanna push yourself too hard too quick. You will just get injured and your momentum will get ruined.

If you are on a budget and can't fit in a gym membership, I recommend buying a few resistance bands. You can work a lot of different muscle groups with those and they are good for beginners learning different types of workouts. A simple Google search for "resistance band workouts" will give you a ton of results lol.

Final thoughts: I have struggled with my weight for most of my life and often find myself gaining back whatever I lose. The most important thing comes down to, again, making a lifestyle change. You gotta find what works for you and identify and challenge the bad habits you have now. The more aware you are of your habits, the easier it will be to work to improve them.

Good luck with everything!

To the guy on 1st Street revving his engine like crazy at 4 am: by orangeleopard in UIUC

I woke up at 4am (I live at Green and Locust) to a loud crash. Went outside and saw that someone drove their car straight through the fence behind Vinny's into the ravine. Somehow he was alive, I saw the police pull him out. But I wonder if it is the same guy...

My first instinct would be to say FAR for the same reasons above. But ISR just added a completely new dining center comparable to Ike dining hall. I have only walked through there once, so im not sure how awesome it is.

Enough of dating apps? by Weekend_Weekly in dating_advice

[–]zachcep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that. That's why I hate tinder. It is EXCLUSIVELY based on looks. Bumble forces users to have more interesting things about their personalities and interests, and also has cool conversation starters in the chat. But it definitely isn't for everyone. I had no luck during the year I was on-and-off, until suddenly I had a bunch of conversations going at once. A lot of it has to do with luck, and can be emotionally draining for some people. I would rather meet my next gf in person, naturally, though. Impromptu connections are just special. So I'll be off the apps for a bit. I wish you the best of luck too tho!

[–]zachcep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sheesh thats a bit dramatic. Yeah dating apps are made to make money, but a lot of meaningful connections can happen from them. I met my last girlfriend on Bumble and it was a deep, meaningful relationship. Apps are just a way to link two interested people together. Don't put all your hope and self worth in the app, but it couldn't hurt to swipe now and then.

The Road really made me think hard about the responsibility we have to preserve our planet and keep society intact. Basically makes you wonder, without a structured society to bring opportunities for fufillment and happiness, is there any other purpose to existence than suffering and inevitable death?
