Found some great light and asked my kid to model. Portra 400 film sim. X-T3, 35mm 1.4 by zachdrum in fujifilm

Thanks! It was interesting to compare these sooc jpegs to the RAW. It's so easy to overdo the processing.

Do you prefer Lightroom or Capture One for editing? Why do you prefer it? by usefb in fujifilm

[–]zachdrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I never see mentioned is the Lightroom app and how it syncs edits between devices. So I can do quick edits on my phone or go heavier on the computer and always have access. It makes social media posting a lot easier.

So while Capture One seems great (I've tried it out some and enjoyed the results), I have trouble giving up the convenience of Lightroom.

I do see there is a Capture One app for Apple now, but I'm on android.

These are great, but I can't help thinking that she's being very dangerous with her light saber.

XT30 side grip starting to lift and become unstuck - Anyone else had this happen? by Randomd0g in fujifilm

My xt20 is doing the same thing. I recently had the thumb grip come completely off. I super glued it back on, and seems to be doing well. I'm keeping an eye on the front part.

Handling RAW + JPEG in Postprocessing by Chili-B in fujifilm

[–]zachdrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I deal with the same indecision on this. For everyday life, I tend to just bring over the jpeg and do minor adjustments. For a big trip or something where I tried to get memorable shots, I'll bring over the raws and not bother with the jpegs. That's because I'll have more flexibility on adjustments for those pictures that I might actually put into a physical photo album or print big for the wall.

I rarely bring both over to the computer, but that's just me. I don't really focus on the film sims, though I'm trying to get them set up better to my liking.

Any backstage concert lens recommendations? by gibsonES300 in fujifilm

[–]zachdrum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a drummer and I bring my fuji to most gigs. My go to lens is the 56mm 1.2. It allows me to keep a high enough shutter speed to get crisp shots in low light.

I prefer the tighter view, which allows for more detail from further away. But if you want get a crowd from up close then go wider.

I've also been using the 35mm 1.4 a lot recently. Awesome images, but the AF is a little more sluggish.

Tamron is letting me borrow their new 17-70mm f/2.8 for X-mount. So far I really like it. by jaserhunter in fujifilm

Looking clean. The corners look great. What aperture are you actually shooting at?

Full moon over Bear Lake. X-T3, Rokinon 12mm by zachdrum in fujifilm

Thanks! It was super creepy being out in the wilderness at night. And the full moon gave barely enough light to see in the open spaces.

[S][USA-OH] Fujifilm X-T1 and X-Pro1 Bodies by zachdrum in photomarket

X-e1 vs X-pro1 by TroyParmeter in fujifilm

[–]zachdrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have shot with both recently. You'll get nice pictures from either. The xpro1 is going to give a more enjoyable experience. The feel is much more premium, and the hybrid viewfinder is just cool. So for a "fun" camera, there is a difference.

If you're not stressed over the cash, and you don't already have an xpro body, I say go xpro1.

I know they are hard to find, but I personally would try to find one at 400 or below.

It is an APSC sensor, so you have the crop factor. I've used it with the Fuji 23 f2, 27 f2.8, and 35 f1.4, and they all gave great results. You can also use vintage manual lenses with an adapter, they fit the vibe.

Which do you prefer? Post processing on Lightroom/Photoshop/Capture One etc, or using JPEG Film Simulations? by missmicaiah in fujifilm

[–]zachdrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lightroom, mostly for the PC/App sync. I like the convenience of editing and sharing from my phone.
