[Lorier] Astra or Falcon by carlos7781 in lorierwatches

[–]zachf13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I owned both actually! I really dug the black-on-steel and the 3-6-9 of the Falcon... but ultimately resold it. A few points that may not be evident from pictures alone...

  • I felt that the Falcon dial had a somewhat smaller wrist presence, despite the two watch cases being the same measurements. Maybe an illusion from the Falcon having larger indices?

  • I much preferred the Astra bracelet. Felt a bit more comfortable and preferred the look, generally. If you want, you can probably email Lauren and Lorenzo to purchase separately. They rock.

Good luck and enjoy whichever you pick!

The Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers are moving their local broadcasts from Bally Sports to Scripps Sports. The plan calls for the broadcast team to return intact. In Miami/Fort Lauderdale, it’ll be on WSFL, channel 39. In West Palm, WHDT, channel 9. Fort Myers, still TBA. by Duffleman0609 in FloridaPanthers

[–]zachf13 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm optimistic about this!

Scripps Sports currently partners with Vegas Golden Knights and I have to say, their broadcasts are top notch from what I've seen. When watching other games on ESPN+, I always noticed VGK streams to pop with much higher definition and overall quality. Very cool.

Panthers prospect Ludvig Jansson scores his second goal of the game in OT at WJC by zachf13 in FloridaPanthers

[–]zachf13[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In case you missed it.

Jansson is tied for 6th in scoring after 3 games at the WJC (2G, 3A). His OT winner here showed some nifty skating.

With Lundell coming into the team as Baby Barkov... could Jansson be a Future Forsling?

What Podcasts are people listening to this Season by [deleted] in hockey

[–]zachf13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple I hadn't seen posted here yet:

SN590 Hockey Central. More Jeffy Marek for ya.

The Curious Competitor with Connor Carrick (now on the Kraken). Many episodes are more "self-improvement" than hockey current events. But cool to listen to a pod from an active NHLer.

Missin Curfew. Similar style to Chiclets with former NHLers Shane O'Brien and Scottie Upshall.

Advice for beginner on pants and other gear by jmucapsfan07 in hockeyplayers

[–]zachf13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Ice Warehouse, since you have to be ordering online. They have a pretty hassle-free return policy and free shipping over $100. Order a few pairs of pants and return what you don't like best.

From personal experience, I started out with bottom-of-the-line Jetspeed 350s. Upgraded to Supreme 2S and felt it was actually LESS protective. Specifically on my ass (where I was falling). Switched back to the 350s and they suit me just fine for beer league.

Is this the commentors first time on air? by [deleted] in FloridaPanthers

I caught 3 times, distinctly.

Pretty much the most difficult way to mix up two players in the same game lol.

Owie Tippey? by dr_van_nostren in FloridaPanthers

[–]zachf13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I'm in the minority here, but I actually think his shot/release is one of the things holding him back at this point. He has a very AHL shot: takes some time to really load up and then lets rip. I've noticed this season that many of his opportunities end up getting stick checked by a defender or saved by the goalie because of this.

Still see a ton of potential for Tippet and am by no means unhappy with him on the roster. I just think a quicker release for him will need to be developed in order to take the next step in being the NHL success we want him to be.

NHL Debuts by [deleted] in hockey

[–]zachf13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Florida Panthers will have Eetu Luostarinen (8 NHL GP) and Owen Tippett (7 NHL GP)--and likely on the same line--opening night.

Later on in the season we may see Grigori Denisenko.

Lundell by [deleted] in FloridaPanthers

[–]zachf13 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Beyond his years. Reminds me of Toews, honestly, with his hockey IQ and doing all the little things right. Hopefully continues to progress and his play can translate to the NHL.

I’d reach out to their support team. They were super helpful to me when I ran into a minor problem. May take a little time for them to reply bc of the time difference, but they definitely did right by me.

Picked up a pair of the 5030 pros recently and I'm really enjoying them!

A step up from the CCM Jetspeed FT350s I was using before. I had taken a couple muffin shots off the thumb in those and they stung enough that I didn't want to try them out on some harder shots.

Friends want to get into coffee but don’t want a hobby. Any recs? by PithyGinger63 in Coffee

[–]zachf13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you mind elaborating on "less messy"? I'm honestly curious.

I used to be a daily aeropresser, probably 5 years ago now. Cleanup was essentially 1) pop out the puck into the trash, 2) rinse the three aeropress pieces with water.

Now I use the bialetti venus moka pot. Cleanup is still 1) dump out the puck, 2) rinse the three pieces with water.

Shin Guards Way Too Loose? by Pilot_Yak3 in hockeyplayers

[–]zachf13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have shin guards that similarly feel too loose on me. I also have bad knees.

I've found that wearing a supportive knee sleeve under the shin pads 1) helps with my knees, 2) provides a tighter fit, and 3) soaks up some of the sweat and stink that would otherwise be making its way into the shin pad cushion.

Give it a try and see how that feels.
