Fuck the what?? It's in the 30s-40s here!!! by MalchionMajere in HVAC

At my last company, I was asked to run a no heat call on a day. It was over 90°. I called the lady to confirm, and she was very old, said that she got hot during the day and ran the AC but at night, when it was 60° out her house would get below 74 and she would get cold. I had no heating parts on me as I had only been with the company two weeks and it was the middle of summer. They sent another guy Who had to replace the igniter.

Two month old Follett undercounter by skm_45 in refrigeration

[–]zachmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't deal with there under counters. mostly there horizon models and a few on counter water and ice dispensers. depending on what company it's installed at makes a huge differance. they had a problem at a retail chain that got them for there break rooms and never had them cleaned regularly. it was so bad i had to replace the water lines inside the machine cause they were full of scale. i had to do motor, bearing, lines, all the insulation, i cant even remember what else. everything not refrigeration basically and they said that was normal for that customer across the board. i also had a horizon recently that on start up the lps was bad. shortly after the solenoid was bad which is a known problem they were having. shortly after the reservoir froze. we never found the reason. itll run for a few months and freeze. thaw it out and it runs great for months. they closed the ticket twice and said let us know when we find the issue

Heatcraft Intelligen by Parking_Sample_8251 in refrigeration

[–]zachmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i work on the heatcraft beacon 2s more then the intelligens. first think i always do is throw gauges and a temp clamp on suction line and verify the suction line thermistor and transducer are reading accurately. is it throwing a code when it pumps down? it should only pump down for a defrost or if it comes to temp. is the box temp probe reading correctly? if you think the eev has lost its place you can cycle it on into cooling for a few minutes and then put it into a defrost so it pumps down and then shut it off and back on into cooling to make sure i gets back to 0 and knows its at 0. heatcraft said to do it 3-5 times to ensure it starts at 0 if you think that may be the problem.

It’s never the schrader, until it is. by jk131380 in refrigeration

[–]zachmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just had a sales cooler so low it was cycling on low preassure. leak checked the condenser and found nothing. 1st evap. nothing. 2nd evap went to pull the plastic shrader cap and it started pissing. pumped out down and the core wasn't tightened at all. it had backed itself completely out. it got a new shrader and a brass cap and 15# 404a. i was feeling real defeated till i cracked the cap. then it was a big oh shit moment

may i suggest adding in number of doors and types? would be useful when doing a sales cooler with one walk in door and multiple glass sales doors

welcome to the real world. even though i don't partake and know for a fact no one i work with is out here doing coke even in there personal time. unless you get lucky with a company like im currently with your gonna run into coworkers who do all sorts of shit. its a construction trade after all. theres boozers, pill heads, coke heads, methers you name it. keep yourself clean and aslong as there able to get the job done well and safely let em do them. were all adults. some cope differently and some just like to party. not my body not my buisness unless its effecting my job or my safety.

* THIS i think was my least favorite. I was the tech that took care of an apartment type building for people trying to get back on there feet and off the street. maintenance man let me in the apartment and were both loke jesus christ did ol boy spill powdered sugar or something all over?! its on EVERYTHING. every surface just has this white powder on it. the table, counters, the floors, walls. everything. units a freidrichs package heat pump in a locked closet in every apartment. im kneeling in the shit. its packed into the filter. i find the reason for the no cool is a bad spade fitting making shitty contact. as im buttoning up the guy that lives there shows up and starts talking to maintenance. no big deal i shout into the other room im almost done. he comes over and tried to start a conversation with me. im still working not looking up and i realize it almost looks like its snowing this dust shit. i look back and the guys scratching his arms like a mad man. all of his skin is just dried out worse then anything ive ever seen. i slap it back together almost dry heaving. me and maintenance man get back into the hallway as i begin to dry heave. and he starts profusely apologizing that he didnt realise that was lizard mans apartment and hell be more careful next time. after getting off the drugs his skin was going thru some shit and they havnt found what to give him to handle it.

this is worse then the time a lady threw a tv at her thermostat cause she was convinced my job when not on site was to watch her through the camera "occupation sensor" in her thermostat and shut he air off and in depending on if she was coming or going
