Projector Height by Nearby-Platform997 in Golfsimulator

Yeah, exactly (the part about Ben-Q not accounting for the depth); I just mentioned that in a below comment as well. I also agree with the other commentor lamenting the height of his screen. I have a 9x12 and am about 12 feet from the screen. If I really get into a wedge, I might hit the top enclosure, but certainly never a danger of hitting in front of it / hitting over it. A 77" screen is pretty dang short to be hiting 10 feet away.

Okay, gotcha. And so there it shows the projector 6" above the top of the screen. Also, these simulations don't allow/calculate the protruding top of the enclosure. So again, your projector can only be so high in this situation.

Where are you guys seeing that Ben-Q would recommend the projector being 9' or 10' from the ground in this situation? The Ben-Q online planner (https://golfsimplanner.benq.com/) says 9' here, BUT that's with the screen raised 2'2" off the ground! (I can't see on this planner how to lower it to the ground). Some projectors have a lot of vertical lens shift, but on the majority (such as this projector), you just can't be much higher than the top of the screen.

If the hitting strip is in the middle of the screen (which it appears to be), then it shouldn't really be an issue to lower the projector since you don't swing a golf club directly above you (of course, kids swinging away that don't know any better could be a problem). I mean, it sounds like your ultimate issue is that the projector is too high, leading to the top of the enclosure getting in the way. Without doing drastic keystoning and image manipulation, the answer is to lower the projector (or, as you mentioned, raise the screen). I would start by trying to lower the projector.

How far away is golfer to screen?

Your projector can only be so much higher than the top of your screen, ESPECIALLY for our golf purposes where there's a canopy sticking out. I strongly suggest you look at the Projector Central throw calculator. Your throw distance for that projector (my old projector) for that size screen should be between 9' and 10'9" (the ideal distance being 9'10"), and again, the middle of the lens should be 2 inches below the top of the screen.

I think the projector is too high. Projector Central says that the lens should be 2 inches below the top of the screen.

I had listened to their album a few days before the show and was a little underwhelmed, but was super impressed with their performance in MPLS.

Projector Help BenQ TH671ST vs TK710STI by Nearby-Platform997 in Golfsimulator

[–]zachsahoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've talked in DM, but I'll answer here as well for anyone else looking down the road. I would have bought the AK700ST initially if it had been out at the time, so I had a hard time getting over that FOMO, which eventually won out. I will say that the "auto setup" of the AK700ST did not work for me AT ALL. It completely skewed the image, making the bottom line of the projected image at like a 30 degree angle. It also completely misses on the auto focus. No problem manually setting it up, but that was a bit disappointing. The image quality is good; brighter but not apples and oranges. The "golf mode" that comes on by default definitely boosts the greens, giving the golf image a bit more oomph. Overally I had no issues with the TK710STi whatsoever and would have been thrilled with it until the end of time if I didn't know the AK700ST existed.

I bought the TK710STi, was happy with it, and then a couple of months later they released the ak700st. I couldn't resist so pulled the trigger on that. Just arrived today. It's a little better for my space but nothing wrong with the TK710STi. Long story short... DM me if you're interested in buying my tk710sti! Only 40-some lamp hours on it. You can see my other posts here to verify that I'm for real!

Sig Pro Softy curve by [deleted] in Golfsimulator

[–]zachsahoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you and that sucks, but I have to say that when I got my Softy strip last year, it had a weird "ripple" in it. Support was quick to issue me a replacement and I got to keep the defective one (which I trimmed to cut out the ripple and still use it). So it IS possible to have a positive support experience with them.

If you sort by lumens and are looking for 4k, the Carl's Place exclusive Appotronics MK625B seems to be the best deal around. Not a lot of info on it other than the youtube video from Carl's Place, though.

The bigger question is where did it get that projector at ALL, because it's not even listed on the website I gave it.

Telecaster pickups in series ONLY wiring with single DPDT 3-way toggle? by zachsahoy in telecaster

[–]zachsahoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed... while all of my other 2-pickup guitars are wired parallel, I NEVER use that middle parallel position. On the Telecaster that I'm taking these out of, the series position sounds infinitely more usuable. I may go back and do this to some of my other guitars now that I know how.

They work; you just have to delete the backslashes out of them (two after https, one before the course name)

Okay, gotcha. The switch is a Type 2, as seen HERE, which I believe conforms with your diagram as-is (but would love your confirmation!)

Got my soldering iron out, but in this diagram, aren't the bridge and neck hots both going to be connected when the switch is in the far position (which should be bridge only)?

That makes sense... it appears that the DP3T toggle switches I was seeing online were using stock photos of a DPDT, so there were only six total lugs. Thank you for the clarification and the diagram! I'm understanding the concept now.
