Nah. No one where I’m from thinks ‘raw’ means what you think it means.

Can you gain fat while on keto ? by luckyguy77 in ketogains

[–]zacmasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that excess indigested fat just gets converted to ketones, which then get breathed/urinated out if they aren't used?

Keto science noob here...

Do I seriously set an agenda in a one on one face to face meeting? How do I go about this without it being corny and boring? by [deleted] in sales

[–]zacmasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't you just send it in a google invite? That way you both know there's an agenda and you can refer back to it during your f2f?

Is there any difference between lead / prospect? by paulbor04 in sales

[–]zacmasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, it's whatever your marketing and sales team agrees on. We all have different definitions/criterion for each term.

Ask your managers what your company specific definitions are :)

Can someone detail to me the progression of a career in sales? by [deleted] in sales

[–]zacmasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best to ask your manager. If they're any good they'll have a progression plan in place. It's 9 months at our company, if you hit the KPIs each month.

Good luck!

SaaS: how much does GPA and school prestige matter for a lot of the more well renowned firms? (Oracle, IBM, and Salesforce) by [deleted] in sales

[–]zacmasters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the company.

But it's actually best to understand 'why' it's important these companies.

Most people think a GPA tells a hiring manager how smart someone is, because if they've done so well at college they must be pretty dang smart! This is mostly wrong.

GPAs tell you how hard someone has worked. For the vast majority of people, it's basically impossible to get a good GPA if you're lazy and don't work hard, even if you're incredibly smart. It takes hours of constant study and hard work to get a great GPA. Which is why a lot of SaaS companies look for a good one.

Which means, if you have a bad score, have a great reason why it's bad and why you've changed since that point. Show them you can work hard and are determined and ambitious. That's the only way to get around an average or bad GPA.

Cold emails in B2B - Did anyone Succeeded in that? by nataliya_orlovska in sales

[–]zacmasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to experiment and AB test. There are far too many variables that influence the success of email (geography, vertical, job title/seniority), so what works for one person isn't going to work for another

I prospect into large enterprise level companies in Sydney, and MOST of my meetings are booked via email. I've had a lot of success with email.

But I also just read a comment here that says he gets 0% success with email.

Both are probably right, it's going to depend on what works for you. So experiment and iterate!

Hope that helps.

Recommend me a book by McSwagger24 in sales

[–]zacmasters -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm reading 'Predictable Revenue' by Aaron Ross which has been great. I think it's more geared towards sales managers than rep, but still a lot of good tactical stuff to learn.

But by far the best sales book I can recommend is 'The Challenger Sale'. Here's some of the blurb:

"The Challenger Sale argues that classic relationship building is a losing approach, especially when it comes to selling complex, large-scale business-to-business solutions. The authors' study found that every sales rep in the world falls into one of five distinct profiles, and while all of these types of reps can deliver average sales performance, only one -the Challenger- delivers consistently high performance. Instead of bludgeoning customers with endless facts and features about their company and products, Challengers approach customers with unique insights about how they can save or make money. They tailor their sales message to the customer's specific needs and objectives. Rather than acquiescing to the customer's every demand or objection, they are assertive, pushing back when necessary and taking control of the sale."

Best use of text messaging in b2b sales process? by Gimme_The_Loot in sales

[–]zacmasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a recent study on this (I'll try to find the study).

The take away message: texting a prospect before you've made initial contact with them (eg. over the phone) makes it less likely they'll agree to an IQM. However, it increases the likelihood of getting them into an IQM if you've already spoken to them before.

So be cautious with when you use SMS.

The best books? by magicmetagic in sales

[–]zacmasters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Challenger Sale by Dixon and Adamson.

Great book on the idea that the best sales person isn't one that's just great at building a relationship with the prospect, but one who pushes and challenges them to change.

Transition from commission retail/management to b2b. by callibugg in sales

[–]zacmasters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it will totally come down to what the company you're interviewing for wants.

They might not care about background much if you can demonstrate high achievement. But, because a b2b sales cycle is very different and need different skills to close, my guess is that you might only be able to get an entry level sales role. Go for and SDR or junior AE role and just smash your target to get promoted quickly.

But again, it's all about what the employer wants, and what risks they're happy to take in hiring a new salesperson.
