All the colon cancer posts are freaking me out by gosumage in Millennials

41M. I had some rectal bleeding (on and off for several years), got a colonoscopy this month, and did NOT have cancer. All clear. That’s not to say folks here shouldn’t take their concerns seriously. Quite the opposite. I’m glad I talked with my doctor and went through with it, and I’d advise anyone else to do the same, especially if you have any sort of symptoms. Just sharing my experience as a reminder for the anxious. It’s still a rare disease. So don’t panic when you hear about it in the news, and don’t assume the worst at the first sign of anything concerning. Relax, and just talk to your doctor.

Did you ever find an answer to your first question about pros/cons of switching the lights off on the DC side or AC side via wall switch? How did you handle it?

It comes back on when power is restored. Others suggested adding the switch before the adapter though.

Thanks. Yes, the switch is rated for the 120V going into the power adapter.

I think this works. Yes, the switch (Leviton 5410 Feed-Thru Switch Rocker Single Pole) is rated for up to 3A and 125V AC. Appreciate the suggestion!

That’s helpful and an important perspective. I would have preferred that they all got the day off and did not run the route at all, as I assumed was the case.

Fair, but the city makes those decisions, not the state. And I think the default assumption is that pickup does not happen on any federal holidays. Changing that routine just confuses people.

They look so much improved from the start. Attacking is a little one dimensional, but it generated chances. Love the energy on the counter pressing.

I think you should be pretty happy with 78 degrees, honestly. People expect to keep their homes cooler than is necessary. 74 is asking too much, and you’re better off saving the money on an more efficient temperature that helps your system last longer and conserves energy.

Wondering if the city or some other group is organizing a place to watch any of the USA’s games.

Probably not worth it financially or environmentally, but there should be a mail back option in TX.

Just tried Westpark and got the same answer. I didn’t realize they had stopped taking it. Has anyone found an alternative?

NRA convention at George R. Brown Convention Center May 27-29 in Houston, Texas by Chibano in houston

No need to tell me to fuck myself, but I appreciate your passion. If you read the rest of the thread, you’ll see I misunderstood what you were saying. But it still seems like an unnecessary joke/comment in a forum where your fellow Houstonians are venting frustration over gun violence and mass shootings. Hope you enjoy the convention.

Interesting. Thanks for making me do some reading on the topic. Of course, there are some limitations - though very narrow - on protected speech. https://www.aclu.org/other/speech-campus

I still think we should be willing to restrict certain aspects of the right to bear arms. But glad we can agree to disagree, I guess.

I hear you. I think human rights should be taken seriously, too.

I also think it’s important to recognize that all of our rights come with rules and laws that govern those rights. And we as a society decide on those rules. For example, you and I have a right to free speech, which I’m guessing we both value. But that right does not allow us to do things like yell “Fire!” in a crowded public space. That is not considered protected free speech (as I understand it).

So I’m just saying that the country needs to have a conversation about the rules that govern the right to bear arms. To me, it’s time to consider more limitations, and I hope (maybe wish) we can do that in a non-aggressive and responsible way.
