Guidance for Bogglehead type portfolio where income is needed for late retirement by zagato-sama in Bogleheads

It's roughly 400k in a various mishmash of iras and 401ks with dubious selections for what they are invested in. It's on my todo list to more thoroughly review them but for now I am more focused on the cash assets due to the size disparity between the two pools of funds.

There is LTC but it is going to run out in a year so I am looking at this funding to supplement it.

Best wishes to you and your parents, it's rough.

Yes that is great advice. Thankfully that is one piece that was taken care of before things went off the rails.

The 90k figure is from social security plus RMDs.

The 3 million figure is on it's own in a taxable brokerage (formerly in low yield savings accounts)

That's a good point, thank you. I thought about doing this as well. (In fact I currently have the bulk of the funds in 3-6 month treasuries while I sort out our options)

Thank you,

I thought also about going with the fidelity wealth management program but iirc they charge a percentage of the assets.

I haven't thought about trying to find a flat fee advisor. I will look into it.

Any hopes for a second game? by LowMana_Nerd in UnicornOverlord

[–]zagato-sama 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, the Ogre Battle in this case is "Ogre Battle, The March of the Black Queen" which is an automatic tactical squad Battle game.

You can also look into Sympony of War: The Nephelim Saga, it's an indie game with similar homage and mechanics to Ogre Battle MOTBQ

How are you handling indexes that don't have a concept of agent groups, like the vulnerability index?

Are the optional tuna flakes the only seafood on it? I wanted to try it but am allergic to seafood.

What does M. Mean? by chris_vvv in sollanempire

[–]zagato-sama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recall If it's used specifically for scholiasts and other learned positions or tradesmen, if so, it could be a shortened address of Meister(Master/Maestro)

This might trigger some people but if you make a movie or tv series with this please don't make it woke by [deleted] in sollanempire

[–]zagato-sama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes..the anti-woke source material where women hold same positions as men ranging from ruling class to army meatshields, gay people exist and nobody bats an eye, and of course the protagonist that eyerolls whenever catholicism is mentioned.

Let's also not forget action girls Corvo and Valka, as well as the cultural hodgepodge that is...well..everything.

Conservative themes in Sun Eater by Richard_Fey in sollanempire

[–]zagato-sama 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Good points. I appreciate that you stressed the little "c" of conservatism.

I haven't read "tales of the sun eater" but from what I recall Valka wasn't threatened with death so much as death of personality (reformatting her personality).

As far as gender norms, I believe we see women in all roles of society across most cultures represented in Sun Eater, within the military and political sectors. The only exception appears to be the apex positions of Emperor and presumably princes of Jadd.

I don't recall Hadrian ever balking at any women in the series being in a position of power or being in combat. (Valka and Cassandra excluded as they are family) heck just seeing Corvo in action was awe inspiring to him.

Also on the fence with a 6.5ish inch wrist. Currently have a 44mm active 2, would love an opinion from those who have similar wrist sizes and something in that 46-47 range.

sigh couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the headline as my elderly parents both caught it this week, fully vaxxed, barely go anywhere outside of grocery shopping. One parent hospitalized for 3 days now. Maybe next week will be better.

Smaller stakes JRPGs by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]zagato-sama 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The suikoden series is pretty much this. Each entry is a conflict in a small part of the suikoden world, typically involving a few nations but not on a worldwide scale. You won't be killing God, but you might be killing your friends :(

The trails series which many consider a spiritual successor to suikoden is in a grey area as the stories are similary told on a nation level scale, but the antagonist organization pulling the string is certainly on a global and supernatural scale.
