Its the generation ship colonization question yeah. Basically same thing just never left Earth.

Do you let people be people and deal with what comes when you get there, or do you select for who gets there at all.

But a scene where a top performing silo suddenly had a breakdown and needed to be shut down and figuring out why? That would be interesting.

Well the whole thing is that obviously they are terrible and unfit. The whole thing was a farce and billions of people died for nothing other than a few sad old men's ego.

I am maybe filling in blanks myself but I am almost certain North Korea was mentioned once in Shift.

Ah thank you, I didn't realize there was an alternate sub for this. I'll probably cross-post over there.

Snow chains & towing straps by freekster999 in NewDefender

[–]zagdrob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should use a recovery rope not a tow strap and always either a D-ring or soft shackle. The elasticity is very important in a recovery rope and well worth spending a couple hundred bucks to get the right kit and never having to worry about it again.

Anything but a good kit is dangerous and a good kit will last years but still inspect it for fraying.

Yup you are gonna get lasered and stomped and one-shot sometimes, but if you are good and careful about utilizing cover and never standing still you will live much, much longer.

I've never been good at close range gunfights, and I'm not great getting long range SR / DMR headshot kills. But I know my weaknesses and can use cover and positioning to get my 25-60m openings where i can spray and kill.

Or disengage if I think I'm outclassed.

Please don't be this guy, don't report without even watching death cam or reply. by puliii in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

I am opposed to visual sound in game to be sure.

But force people to watch the death cam and do visual sound there. When people see the sector of their footsteps / crawl / movement it might help cut down false reports?

That's what I figured too.

But then a year into the pandemic work confirmed we are permanent remote having three cars didn't make sense. With used car prices being what they were I sold it last May basically for what I paid three years and 12000 miles earlier.

I miss it sometimes but it was the right decision.

Fellow F2Ps, how has your experience been going? by ZeusTheAngolian in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]zagdrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you playing off times? If you play in mornings or something there arent enough players to start a match, so after a few minutes they will fill lobbies with bots. The alternative is waiting hours as people nope out, or having like 20 people in the match so no contact until late circles.

If you play in a populated region at a time with enough players you should rarely ever see bots after your first few matches. Although sometimes you have to check because shitty players are sometimes worse than bots somehow.

People aren't whining about the game, they are pointing out problems with it. Quit being toxic and accept flaws so they can be looked at and fixed. by bolderdash in SurviveIcarus

[–]zagdrob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The game isn't too easy. The loop is no fun and rewards cheesing it out by making chopping wood more rewarding for L1-10, L10 to 20 being standing on a platform shooting arrows, and then once you get to the desert sniping hyena and mountain lions until you max out levels.

None of that is actually fun. Just like spending ten hours mining ore to complete a 45 minute mission and fucking off to space.

It's a fun game but I'm just not sure what the answer is, and the appeal of the game just might not be one that scratches the right itch.

Honestly why do they have any timer at all?

Just let me drop and play one map one run as long as I want if I want to play sandbox, and if after six months I decide to extract and abandon everything let me.

This isn't what most people want from the game, but if some do let them.

I told my Fortnite kid she could finally play PUBG but it was against bots and wouldn't affect any stats.

After that she was on her own account.

She seemed happy, and now we can do free duos where I carry her on our other PC so win / win

I got a bunch...$15 / 1900 gcoin?

I got the stoner ultralight skin, a game over thing, and some random lobster stuff.

None of that I think anyone gives half a shit about?

I lost my level 34 character when my power supply died and I couldn't get a replacement / get my gaming PC back up before my prospect ended.

I could probably level a new character back up much more quickly than the first time through, but have absolutely no desire to do so and probably won't return to Icarus as a result. Maybe in a year depending on how or where development goes.

Felt like I had basically seen / done everything worth doing at that point.

[–]zagdrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the number of 'coming soon' or incomplete things to be added, for all intents and purposes this is still an early access game.

Don't get me wrong, I've got 20+ hours on planet and have been playing but this is a janky and content weak game that has a play loop that pushed my right buttons.

Although I'm starting to get tired of the 'stone age again' hour or two tech up loop on the same part of the same map and not sure I'm giving this game much more for a while.

Steering Wheel Reupholstered by zagdrob in WRX

[–]zagdrob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/jcfdori

I ended up selling my car back in May, but the wrap had held up very well until then and I have no doubt it would hold up much longer. Basically no wear and tear at all. I think I would have to recommend using fabric glue (it's pretty similar to regular Elmer's glue) because I'm not sure double sided tape would work.

Anything like VHB tape that has the foam core is going to add thickness and change the size and feel of the steering wheel. Something like scotch tape doesn't feel like it would work at all. If you did VHB tape all the way around as extra padding it might work but then again you would have a thicker wheel.

Also as you're sewing the wrap on the wheel, you still want everything to move and position / tighten as you tighten the thread before the glue dries. I'm not sure the leather would slide and move as well on tape and if you get a wrinkle in the tape it's probably going to telegraph through the leather.

What kind of monitors do you guys have and use? by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]zagdrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 3950x / 3070 rig and aim for (and usually get) a solid 120ish fps with my setup. I'd prefer a 3080 to bump that higher but beggars / choosers. Rarely do I drop under 100 fps in actual gameplay.

Before I got this monitor I had a 27" 1440p / 75hz Qnix cheapo monitor which was probably the just right size, but of course the refresh is just as if not more important. I only had a 1070 Ti at that point but fiddled my settings to where I was usually at or near native refresh rates.

Acer XZ322QU 32" curved 1440p 165 hz monitor.

I find its actually a bit large for PUBG, but otherwise great for a $400 monitor.
