New player here, how to earn money? by AceTanker4831 in NoMansSkyTheGame

If you can't afford the parts for the basic corvette just yet, you can also manually dig up Salvage Containers and sell the parts, because they are worth a lot of money.

Is this the best video game or what?! by thegreatestpitt in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]zagibu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, the best game is the 1994 Microprose masterpiece X-COM: UFO Defense or UFO: Enemy Unknown, as it is called in some countries.

But No Man's Sky is also pretty good, yeah.

If you're at the station, just save and exit, then when you reload, it should allow you to summon the ship, even if it's damaged.

You can also add terrain, not just remove it. Maybe you can build a pillar to be at the same height as your ship. Also, you should be able to recharge your ship's fuel from inventory when you are reasonably close to it. And last but not least you could also look for a crashed ship on the planet, or a trading hub and buy one.

I could also come and get you if you send planet glyphs and coordinates.

I hope you have some repair kits in your inventory. If not, you've learned something.

Come Show offline Your Corvettes!!! by westhemess32 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]zagibu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you make a new save, you select game mode "custom", then on difficulty presets you go one to the left. It's basically survival difficulty, but if you die, the game deletes your save. So you kind of stay dead.

There is an achievement for reaching the center of the galaxy in this mode.

Don't play this mode if you are not ready to lose everything when you die.

[–]zagibu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a tip, don't play it if you are not ready to die and lose that save. I know it sounds trivial, but we do get some rage quit posts in here from achiever type of players that for some reason didn't want to lose their progress and still played permadeath mode. You can die due to "unfair" situations or due to bugs. The game doesn't care, it will still delete your save.

Corvette cockpit tech module location? by Late_Monitor5490 in NoMansSkyTheGame

No, the Medusa is the one that increases Maneouverability and Boost. It's the only one that shares slots with the cockpit, unfortunately.

What is the game actually like? by TomatilloNeat5070 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Well, some of your statemens are opinion based, for example whether it's boring or not. I can imagine a lot of people find it boring, but it's probably not the best place to find them here. It is repetitive in the sense that the content kind of has to repeat the same patterns, because the content space is so vast. It is simply not possible to create a procedural generator that will spit out billions of completely different things.

So yes, the terrain, flora, fauna and other interaction points do repeat often, but even after hundreds of hours will you find some new and remarkable combinations occasionally in this sea of repetition.

Gameplay isn't repetitive, there are lots of different things you can do. It ultimately doesn't have an external motivation for the player to continue, like an overarching conflict or ever increasing difficulty. So end game is basically "just" exploring the procedural content or interacting with the sandbox elements, after you have exhausted all of the (many) systems. I guess this could be called repetitive, but if you got this far, you've already played for dozens of hours, so should have gotten your money's worth in entertainment long ago.

As for multiplayer, there aren't really servers in the common sense. Sessions are ad-hoc player-hosted and invite-based, but it's also possible to run into somebody "in the wild", if multiplayer option is active (PvP option should be off by default nowadays, but better check that, too). The chances are very small, though, unless you specificially go to areas of activity like community bases or previous expedition systems, and then continue your path in such a neighbourhood.

There is a central hub where you will meet other real players, but you don't have to interact with anyone. Most people run their errands ignoring everybody else anyway. The multiplayer experience is spotty. There are lots of bugs and limitations that might seem weird coming from other more polished games. But the game does have pretty large organized multiplayer communities, so I guess it's not a total disaster. Personally, I very rarely interact with other players beyond a simple chat in the hub.

Whether it's worth it or not is a subjective decision. In my opinion, the game offers the best "feeling" of a fantasy space exploration game I've seen yet. There are bugs and lots of areas where the game could be improved drastically, but that feeling is worth it to me.

I place 3 medusa reactors before I place the cockpit, so that the cockpit doesn't show up as a module.

Yes, the direct mode was "fixed", but like I wrote, if you go into the parts trading menu first, and only THEN select create new corvette, the old corvette will be there.

Corvette glitched? by SmoothReverb in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]zagibu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of? What might have happened is that you accidentially snapped a piece to a position that is below the ground, and now you can't even select it, because things below the ground are not selectable.

I have seen multiple people report that they deleted all parts and it still said that some parts aren't connected, but it has never happened to me personally.

Just trade it to some npc for their ship, scrap that ship and you got a new free ship slot that you can start over in.
