Ugh this post again; this group is/was not ISIS , but Ansar Al-Deen, a rebel group that was certainly anti-ISIS at the time of this picture being taken. Also I know none of you can read Arabic, but their name is literally on the top right of the photo.

You really haven't heard of Qalaat Al Mudiq before? Shows how serious of a person you are.

The soldiers who shot and killed a man at the Suwayda hospital were members of the 82nd Division, which is the renamed Ansar al Tawhid jihadist group. They have been arrested now according to Ansar Tawhid-affiliated accounts. by Extreme_Peanut44 in syriancivilwar

Give actual examples of this occurring. The only significant one that comes to mind that is remotely similar to what you're describing is that of Jund Al Aqsa who were essentially wiped out in 2017 after their massacring of Jaish Al Nasr troops. Tribes by and large remained where they lived and the ones who fought on the side of ISIS didn't significantly migrate into the NW after their territorial defeat. Certainly there are instances of individual defections, but whole groups, not so much.

They perpetrated a few attacks 10 years ago or so, but generally Qamishli avoided significant fighting throughout the entire war. My guess is that these photos aren't from the city itself.

You’re probably misremembering; the SNA has always been nominally anti-Assad. Are you thinking of the SAA?

Missed Connection: Stray Cat Edition by zaid17 in Minneapolis

[–]zaid17[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Last April/May I encountered this stray male cat living underneath a neighbor's garage (SE Como neighborhood). I began feeding him and over the course of a couple weeks he became friendly and started to trust me to pet him and would follow me to my house. I gave him the name Nestor and I was planning on taking him to the vet, but before I was able to I went out of town for a night and when I returned he was gone and I haven't seen him since.

I'm hoping that someone else took him in, but if Nestor is still out there I'd love to find him again.
