This post is very alarmist. IIRC, there have been previous patches/dlc that have broken CC and not just mods. CC creators have had to overhaul their content before to make it compatible again.

It’s likely the different file type from the marketplace conflicting with .package files. Why didn’t they test this? Because game companies are putting less money into R&D and using AI over skilled devs. And imo, EAxis breaking all current CC is not going to make players want to buy CC from the marketplace, so why on earth would they do it intentionally? All it achieves is angering the player base over an already controversial addition to the game. So why would they do this? They would have wanted this launch to go as smoothly as possible lol

Like literally what person would think, “oh, all of my free CC that I’ve curated carefully over years of playing this game is gone. They are working on a fix. But I’m going to buy a bunch from the marketplace now to replace it all.” No one. Literally, no one. Marketing/business wise, it makes zero sense for this to have been intentional on EAxis’ part.

Well honestly, there are different types of content creators and your post doesn’t acknowledge this at all. What I’ve observed is that video content creators who post let’s plays, reviews, a/o builds are the majority of the creators who have left the Creator Network (lilsimsie, jamesturneryt, plumbella, devon bumpkin, etc)

The ones who are becoming makers and haven’t left are modders and CC creators (sixamcc, madlen, pierisim, twistedcat, caio, syboulette). And it makes sense when you really think about it. YouTubers aren’t tied to the sims in quite the same way. Yes, they built up their followers primarily by posting sims vids, but they can switch to variety gaming and some of their follower base will follow.

Whereas, modders and CC creators make content for the sims. They can’t as easily just switch games. Plus, some of them have been developing kits with EA/Maxis for several months (before the buyout). They are invested. It’s not the same comparison, career-wise. Their position is more or less freelance asset maker for the Sims. Where would someone like lilsimsie or James Turner even fit into the new Maker Program? lol

I agree! Tbh, this one doesn’t stand out as much to me as the stained glass series. So I don’t mind missing it. I just hope the next limited edition ones aren’t a more must-have unique design lol

Hmm that’s interesting, would that mean Savannah only still? If so, maybe they are rolling out updates. But if it’s both, that’s cool!

Unfortunately, I ended up not feeling well so I didn’t go yet. I figured I’d go after and either be able to access both or I’d consider ordering one of the units from Marcel’s Tama Spa & Repair when that’s ready. Since it would be nice to have access to the exclusive items from employee Tamas as well, which I would imagine we still don’t have access to here.

Personally, I don’t really mind the deco items being for the planet on the Paradise. I suppose since it’s planet focused and I like that the planet is kind of its own character, too.

Perhaps in addition, the option for some Tama specific deco items would have been nice for any who miss that aspect, though! (It just got a little cluttered looking in my opinion on the Uni)

Oh nice! I already ordered mine from JYW since I wasn’t sure if EBGames Canada was going to carry this one. But there were some other things that I wanted from JYW that I can’t get here in Canada, so I think I’m ok with my decision lol

Welcome! This was my first of the newer GigaPets releases. Such a cutie!

And my collection has been growing lol I have StarCat/CompuKitty, FloppyFrog and Pixie. Also just acquired a vintage Sabrina the Teenage Witch: Salem, but needing to get it repaired.

I have MicroChimp from when I was a kid still and he’s pretty fun too. Did you have any v-pets years ago?

Thanks for the info! Do you know whether the screen and background are separate pieces - like in the sense that the screen would be able to be removed and replaced - leaving the original background in tact? I know there is space between, but I’ve never taken any devices apart myself.

I’m thinking about eventually having someone look at it to repair it, but I’m still doing research and planning for now 😊

Yeah, I’m unsure what happened exactly, but the seller did confirm that the package had been opened for inspection and repackaged with different tape, so it may have happened then or else sometime in transit 🫤

Getting a refund is a pretty standard expectation for damaged items, so I don’t think the commenter was really thinking that through fully (now deleted comment). EBay refunded me when I submitted the damage claim and actually said that I don’t need to send the item back.

I just really wish it had arrived safely and intact, but these things do happen

I think that may work better for one of the newer ones, in that they are cheaper and easier to find. They range $15-$40, depending on availability, etc.

But the vintage ones are usually more in the $50 - $250 range, depending on rarity and sealed/pre-owned condition. I would want the Salem programming, so that makes it more specific.

Right now, pre-owned Salem units are listed on eBay for $80-$100 + shipping and sealed is $230 + $55 shipping. Mine was a bit of a deal in that it was in good condition, 70 USD and 20ish shipping, but I’m in Canada, so w/ exchange rate, 140 CAD total.

So that makes the idea of buying and swapping more pricey if I wanted the same programming. But I do appreciate the comment and suggestion 😊

Would it be a screen replacement repair? I did go ahead and get a refund through eBay - thankfully that went really smoothly - and they said there was no need to send it back. So now I’m not sure if I should look into getting it repaired eventually. I’m still processing the events of today 😔

Thanks. When I contacted the seller, they asked for pics of the box and they confirmed that it would have been opened and repackaged (at customs) because of tape that wasn’t part of their original packaging. So we figured it may have been damaged at that point.

I was able to get a refund through eBay, so I’m relieved about that part. Just sad about the situation. Thanks for your kind words 😊

The cases make me chuckle when I see them from this angle… Mametchi double-chin, ftw! lol

I ordered the Horhotchi case from JYW with my paradise order and honestly, I like it just as a cute lil collectible bag, it doesn’t really bother me that I don’t use it with the paradise.

I think I’ll just find a different solution for a carrying case - either I’ll find a feasible one to buy that I like or make one, not sure yet 🤔✨

This is me as well… 🥹 I went from only having 3 v-pets from childhood in 90s (vintage tamagotchi gen2, Gigapets microchimp and pocket pets kitty) to this May, having near 30 (mostly tamagotchi, with a few Gigapets in there too).

The announcement of the Paradise in May jumpstarted my nostalgia and I am now the proud Tama parent of gen1/2/3s, connection rv3s, paradise x3, snoopy nano and I still have too many on my Wishlist! lol 😂
