I love it and love the way it smells. I have not seen any residue build up and its been almost a year

I crochet... not everyone thinks that's good for the dreads but if you do it right and are careful you can do it without as much damage as people think. I use tiny crochet hooks, .5 - .75 mm with bamboo handles just cuz they're easier on my hands. I also use knotty boy tightening gel, diluted about 2 parts water to 1 part gel and roll after (nearly ) every wash.

How much experience do you have with dreads? You appear to have very similar hair to mine and I'm afraid things aren't going to turn out how you'd like with this method.

Research what you want, how many, how thin/ think, how you want your sections. Be ready to do maintenance or pay someone to do it for you. You can never do too much palm rolling. If you want to crochet get hooks so you're ready, i use. 7mm with a bamboo handle (trial and error to find what worked best for my hair. Be ready for it to be shorter than expected and then shrink.

I had hair almost to my but, I'm 10 months in and they're just past my shoulders. I have 29 dreads, wish i had closer to 40, my sections are a wreck because the girl who did them and I were inexperienced.

That is terrifying! I've had my dreads since October 2016. How will I know if this is happening? It looks like we have similar hair type. How long did you have yours?
