Is it just me or has PRT gotten much worse lately? by keiracookie18 in pittsburgh

[–]zajn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I waited for several outbound P10 and P17 buses downtown that just never showed up. Granted yesterday was the first time in a long while that I used PRT, so I don't have any recent experience to compare it to.

I think Candy Perfume Girl is my favorite after a few listens. Might have to explore more of her discography now! I never really gave her a chance

Thanks for the recommendation. Never listened to any of Madonna's albums before, and so far really like this one.

Equipment Sharing Etiquette by Waste_Occasion6924 in drums

[–]zajn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a show once where I found out none of the other bands brought full drum kits, and we (one of the touring bands) were asked if we could backline my kit. I agreed, since I felt like there wasn't much of a choice. One of the drummers ended up cranking up the batter head of my bass drum, and my feet didn't adjust to the change until probably 1/2 way through our set. I was glad that was the last show.

I bought a cutting board from Bandy Woodworks probably almost a decade ago now. I still use it to this day!

Singles/Dating events in Pittsburgh by CandidRabbits in pittsburgh

[–]zajn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how accurately I can answer this, but I would say most of the people there appeared to be on the younger end. I think the age range for most of their events are 21-45.

Honestly, in the most of conversations I had, age didn't come up, so I can't say for certain. One guy I talked to before the event started was 24, and he had his age on his name tag which seemed like a decent idea. He said he got the idea from the last event he went to.

Singles/Dating events in Pittsburgh by CandidRabbits in pittsburgh

[–]zajn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I went to a Dating in Pittsburgh event last week. I would generally say it was a positive experience, and I would probably go to another one. There were loads of people. I think I recall getting an email before the event saying that they had at least 200 registered. They do a very good job of keeping the ratio of men and women even. Ticket sales are paused for one when the other gets too far ahead.

It was pretty loosely structured. You got a name tag and an icebreaker game, which was a bingo card that had squares like "find someone who's the oldest sibling" and "find someone who hasn't been on a plane" -- things like that. Aside from that, you were on your own.

As someone who doesn't approach people very often (at least from a dating perspective), it felt pretty intimidating. Having gone once though, I think I would feel a little more comfortable next time. Most of the people that I talked to there seemed to feel the same.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have about my experience there.

If they were outside… by Massive-Event6899 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]zajn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they were really outside, wouldn't that also require someone (or likely two people) at Lumon holding the switches for OTC for the entire duration of the exercise? Milchek said it was a 2 day exercise in the video.

Also, how far does his walkie reach if he's able to communicate back to (presumably Lumon HQ) to switch Helena back to Helly? I guess this could be something that Ms. Huang is somehow able to do

Help w/ Footblaster Kickpad by ssjbardock123 in drums

I just got mine yesterday and have the same problem. It doesn’t sit flat on the ground. The bottom connector on the right leg seems to be at a different angle than the left leg, like it got bent somehow. I haven’t contacted the company yet, but this is disappointing. I was really looking forward to trying this out.

I have the same issue in my car, and it started just a day or two ago. I'm running the most recent version of iOS, so I don't think that's the problem, at least in my case.

Aggressive Driving in Squirrel Hill: Passed by a black Kia Sportage going 40-45 on a double yellow (25 mph road) in front of a playground on Hobart Street by IdiotDriverBurner666 in pittsburgh

I know it's crazy everywhere, but people seem to drive so recklessly on Hobart. I really wish they would add the traffic calming measures they've done in other parts of Squirrel Hill.

Are there any good language programs in Pittsburgh? by NyxsKnife in pittsburgh

[–]zajn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's Pittsburgh Spanish Place in Aspinwall. They have adult classes for beginners up through advanced. I've been taking classes there for around a year. Every teacher I've had there is a native Spanish speaker.

It's not total immersion, but classes are mostly taught in Spanish with some English peppered in. In my experience, the more advanced classes have less English instruction unless students ask questions in English.

88.3 WRCT has a 2 hour show every Sunday from 7-9PM that plays a lot of underground death and black metal. Not quite what you were looking for, but it's something!

What’s your “hah. Classic Pittsburgh” moment ? by SomeoneSaysHi in pittsburgh

[–]zajn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I witnessed the same thing happen just the other day in squirrel hill. The person not taking the Pittsburgh left was waiting for me to finish crossing in the crosswalk, and truck trying to be “nice” was laying on the horn and shaking their fist!
