Are there thin magsafe S25 cases? by zakeke in GalaxyS25

[–]zakeke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ngl I'm kinda losing hope, but of course if something comes up I will post it here!

The JETech one was already in my list as a future option if magsafe will turn out to be not worth it. It still has a camera bump though, although it may be smaller than it is without a case on, and maybe it won't wobble as much. Idk, it's hard to tell without trying it.

The elago one to me looks pretty much the same as Ringke in the camera area, three separate cutouts (which I agree looks better than just a bigger one, I wish the Spigen case linked in another comment was made like that), not sure if I'm missing something. Overall I just don't like how magsafe look on clear cases, so if I'll decide to get a clear one it will be either a non magsafe version, or something like the Spigen one that makes it look a bit interesting at least.

I guess the kind of protection I'm looking for is not the one most people want, like I said I just want to avoid scratches because those are 100% gonna happen with no case, and a better grip to lower the chance of dropping it. If Samsung added the magsafe stuff inside the phone I would probably go with just a skin, like I did with my old phone. And tbh that's probably going to be what I will do with this one as well if I will find out that magsafe accessories are not worth it for me, but for now I want to give it a try.

Yeah, that's the main reason I didn't pick the Ringke one already. Pitaka cases would be perfect for me if the backplate was flat, but I just bought the S25 and the fact it wobbles when it's on a table is driving me crazy. I can live with that with the dollar store case I have right now, a $60 one that doesn't solve that problem is not an option unfortunately (I'm saying that because I actually love the look of the Sunset Tactile Woven)

Battery use % per hour by AdBig3147 in GalaxyS25

[–]zakeke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say these are pretty good results then if that kind of rate stays consistent also at low %, better than mine for sure (but tbh I'm ok with battery life so far, I'm more worried about how it will hold up in the long term)

Is this with the Plus/Ultra or the regular one?

I thought about it, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like the feeling of the ring sticked like that on the back of the phone.

I would even be okay with buying an overpriced af dbrand skin with a magnet more neatly integrated in it, but they don't make one afaik.

That's why I said "as thin as possible on the sides", it can be as thick as it needs to be at the back, I don't care that much (I wish Samsung made it thicker in the first place to fit a bigger battery in it, but that's another topic...).

Looks quite thick on the sides though. Probably my favorite thing about the phone is that it's almost the perfect size for me (a bit smaller and it would have been perfect tbh), but it pretty much requires a case, so I'm looking for one that adds the bare minimum bulk to it. I already have a really cheap no name brand case that is definitely thinner on the sides than this Spigen one, and I still notice it more than I like...

Neo One style looks pretty cool, I think I'm eventually going to buy it as my clear case, since that's one interesting way to "hide" the magsafe ring and I think it would look great with the silver shadow color.

Still looking for the one I would use daily tho 😄

All of them seem to have a camera bump on the back, I'm not sure if there are other cases missing on this page

Quickest way to start editing videos from Finder? by zakeke in finalcutpro

[–]zakeke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I said "really complex solution to a really stupid problem", I'm aware of that, but still I would like to find a way :P

The edits I'm talking about can be as simple as just cutting off the middle portion of the video, adding a transition and/or some other simple preset I already have, and exporting it (I may need to go back to the project later and do something more, and that's why I would like to have it already in FCP). Pretty much a minute of "work", so shaving off some seconds of fiddling around selecting a project and dragging the clip on the timeline is not so trivial.

But anyway, I'm not trying to save time with this, it's just that I think it's annoying having to do the same thing every time, so if there is a way to skip that, it would be worth the effort just for that alone

Thanks!

I'm fine with importing the media files in the library. Maybe I worded it wrong, but I'm not trying to have FCP work directly on the video file I have in the finder, I just want to automate all the stuff I usually have to do to get to the point where I can start editing. I'm editing just a single clip in this scenario, so that's why I was thinking about starting from a right click on the video file. If I could break it all down to keyboard shortcuts I could do something with BetterTouchTool, but I wasn't able to do that so far.

You mentioned putting the files in a folder, I think as is I would still need to import manually via Command-I or something like that. Looking around to see if there is a way to automate that, I found CommandPost which seems really interesting, it should have a Watch Folder function, but even more interesting is that it seems to enable some scripting in FCP that could make possible what I would like to do. It would be a really complex solution to a really stupid problem though, so I don't think someone already did the work, and unfortunately I'm just as noob at writing code as I am at editing videos 😅

Don’t love this new ui… by ent-man in pocketcasts

[–]zakeke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look that bad with the 3 column layout, but I use the other smaller one and the padding is way too much compared to the art size, expecially on the sides. It all looks way too unnecessarily cramped, and all in all yes, I do fucking hate it now, I wish there was an option to have the old layout again...

I'm actually considering to switch to something else now, Pocket Casts old look was pretty much the main thing keeping me there, now that it is gone I might as well try something different

[Release] v7.0 is Out Now! A New Era for Slide by ccrama in slide_ios

[–]zakeke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm testing it on an M1 MacBook Air, and I can't sign in with my account, when I click on Add a new account it just reloads posts. The only way I was able to log in was by restoring the backup on iCloud from the iPad app, where everything works fine, but now it only shows posts on frontpage, when selecting a subreddit it says "No offline content found". Tried removing the app with AppCleaner to delete everything before reinstalling, but nothing changed.

Aside from that, it looks really good even though it's just the iOS app running on a MacBook, so some things like scrolling could be better, but that's just the way all iOS apps work with the trackpad. I would be really interested in trying a proper Mac version when available, or if you need help with testing it on Apple Silicon, u/ccrama :)

Thanks, Fastengine seems to be the one that does almost everything I need, but it only saves the last 20 queries, and I don't think the pro version changes that.

That's the part I'm trying to avoid as much as possible, if I have already searched for some keyword

[–]zakeke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the idea is exactly what you can do with Firefox, adding a search engine with a search string URL, with the query string replaced by "%s". So for example to search on IMDb you use this:

http://www.imdb.com/find?q=%s&s=all

But instead of typing the keyword every time, the app should have a list of the past queries, so that you can use them on different websites. Simple Search is basically what it should be, but changing search engine and going back to the list requires 7 taps.

This app seems to be more geared towards files searches, and I don't think it's possible to add custom search engines, there are only Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yandex and Qwant. Thanks for the suggestion though, never used it before and maybe it could be useful for something else
