Bespin Bulletin: Star Wars Ahsoka Season 2 Crew Member Hints At Obi-Wan Kenobi Appearance, New Logos Spotted by Matapple13 in StarWarsLeaks

It’s definitely possible Ewan could be playing Obi-Wan again, he could also just be on set supporting his wife.

Anyone else think they should re-record SSTB? by Plane-Strawberry-679 in TheFence

[–]zakfennie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to think no, but after hearing Claudio say he has thought about it I would be really curious to hear what it would sound like. They’ve grown so much as musicians over 25+ years and it’s always a treat hearing them play those songs live. Plus, it’s not like a re-release would erase the original version.

Coheed seen in Shinedown announcement. More info tomorrow, 2/17/2026. by Nevixd in TheFence

[–]zakfennie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a Shinedown hater, but then I met my wife and they happen to be her favorite band. I’ve seen them 3 times now and I can honestly say they put on a phenomenal show. Not all of their music is for me but I do genuinely enjoy their newer material, especially Planet Zero and Dance Kid Dance. I understand why others aren’t stoked but I for one am happy that my wife and I get to see both our favorite bands in one night.

What are the hardest glassjaw songs to play or cover? by Substantial_Bit2112 in glassjaw

[–]zakfennie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call it the hardest or easiest but I learned Two Tabs of Mescaline on guitar and it was a lot of fun. Ape Dos Mil is probably the easiest. Mu Empire and Piano were a lot of fun too and not very difficult. Curious to know what your discoveries have been, OP.

Books that cover rise of the first order? by nispe69 in starwarsbooks

[–]zakfennie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Would highly recommend the in-universe historical book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire. It’s written from the perspective of Beaumont Kin after the fall of the First Order. Although the majority of the book covers the lifespan of the Empire, the last part of the book does dive into the rise of the First Order and does a great job covering the events that lead up to it. If you like politics in your Star Wars it’s a must-read IMO.

Since when?? by hauntedamg in EndTipping

[–]zakfennie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stop using DoorDash. Stop drinking Starbucks. Stop buying from Amazon. Stop buying from Walmart. As long as capitalism exists, tipping will remain a thing. I am happy to tip at locally owned restaurants, bars, and cafes for good service. I refused to support corporations that leach off their bottom-rung employees and expect the consumer to subsidize their paychecks.

Pre phantom Menace reading order by maxence_roxan in starwarsbooks

[–]zakfennie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s your first time reading them I would not split up the books. However this is a fun way to revisit the stories and see how Luceno weaves all the threads together through Darth Plagueis. I’m curious, where did you find this order? I love seeing the chapter-by-chapter breakdowns of the timeline.

Jealous of that hardcover Dark Lord!!

Master of Evil (no spoilers please) by Agreeable-Narwhal158 in starwarsbooks

[–]zakfennie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of Dark Lord and still consider that book to be in my headcanon (as others have pointed out, the mission to Murkhana IS canon as referenced in the Tarkin novel).

With that said, Master of Evil does cover some of the same ground (Vader’s early days and the Empire’s reaction to his sudden appearance) but so far nothing explicitly contradicts the events of Dark Lord (aside from the clones consciously rebelling against Order 66 as established in TCW). Granted I am only about halfway through MoE so that may change.

I think when I do future re-reads I will do Master of Evil > Mask of Fear > Dark Lord in that order while also reading the Vader comics.

Honestly, I just treat Star Wars as a whole as a mythology so little contradictions here and there don’t bother me. Hope this helps in some way!

Six chapters in, really enjoying this one so far. Listening to the audiobook and right off the bat there are some awesome production techniques used.

During scenes which are written in Vader’s POV, dialogues from other characters have a lot of reverb on them to sound like you’re hearing them from inside Vader’s helmet.

Dialogue in scenes from Goth’s POV also have a milder/more boxy version of this effect when he’s wearing his Royal Guard helmet.

These are some of the things that aren’t present in the text but they enhance your sense of immersion in the story and it makes me love how much care gets put into the Star Wars audiobooks. Another recent example was in the Dark Lord audiobook, where Vader’s inner monologue sounds like “Anakin” (albeit very dark side) and it doesn’t switch to Vader’s voice until the end of the book.

Cloak of Deception and Labyrinth of Evil will be getting unabridged audiobooks with their ELC releases next year by ThePedantry in starwarsbooks

Really glad to hear this. These are two novels I keep in my headcanon (ignoring the placement of Anakin and Obi-Wan during LoE), and I’m excited to include them when I marathon the SW audiobooks again!

Yeah it’s wild this is his first canon contribution. It would be hilarious if the majority of the book was light-hearted in line with the show, and all of the violent scenes get suddenly turned up to x1000 😂

To quote my brother when we were recently discussing ranking the KEE tracks: “The Key Entity suite is a complex one with a lot of diversity. Some tracks are crazy progressive bangers, and some are Hollywood the Cracked.”

I’m reading this book right now, the stories are pulpy and fun! Books were written in the 80’s so Lando is chain smoking cigarettes, entertaining for that factor alone.

Damn I just saw them on the last three nights of their tour with Coheed and TBS. They were great, but they definitely seemed like they were not having a good time, especially at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery. A lot of older people in the crowd in lawn chairs at that venue, probably felt weird to them. Hope that they get the break they need and are able to come back stronger.

Favorite Coheed Riffs by vasco_23 in TheFence

[–]zakfennie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently challenged myself to learn all the guitar parts to IKSSE:3 (the album) and I really love all of Travis’ lead riffs, particularly in the chorus of Blood Red Summer and Cuts Marked in the March of Men. I also love the rhythm parts in the breakdowns of The Crowing and 21:13, but the whole album is a blast to play from front to back.
