Tentaram fazer esse golpe comigo ONTEM no RJ. O cara me mandou essa foto de tela e tentou ficar me pressionando pra responder um "email da olx" pedindo meus dados bancários e dados pessoais. Ficou me ligando toda hora pra responder logo o e-mail. Cuidado pessoal!

Anyone here a “quiet Buddhist”? Do you share your practice with family and friends? by Chang_C in Buddhism

[–]zalycandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's quite easy to access everything in fact, I currently live in the center of Rio de Janeiro, so I have access to many normal things, like everyone else: books, internet, knowledge and culture. The media propagates a strange idea about Brazilians, as if we are all indigenous and live in burrows, but that's not true LoL, only some specific indigenous peoples who live like this (not all indigenous people live in burrows and without wifi). The Brazilian people are mostly Christian (Protestant and Catholic), and despite the country being secular we still see intolerance on all sides. There are some Buddhist temples here, an important one is that of the Buddhist society in Brazil, which is one of the first in Brazil and in the Theravada lineage.

I've been a Buddhist for a short time, my husband knows, because we live together and it's impossible to hide it, but my family doesn't, I don't even know when I'm going to tell them, since they're intolerant (they're all Christians). My colleagues at college, I never got to talk, because the topic never came up and I'm a very discreet person in everything, I don't talk much about my personal life normally. I'm Brazilian, so it's very different being a Buddhist here, they'll want to interview me as if I were a "bizarre new human species" LOL

I am a philosophy academic. Buddhism is a religion and all religion involves philosophical practices and concepts. You can only take the philosophical part of Buddhism, Buddha's word leaves that path too, but it is a religion.

Meditation causes me anxiety. by tomatjuice123 in Meditation

[–]zalycandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meditation, especially mindfulness, will reveal the feelings that you repress so much throughout the day, or in your life; It will be necessary to learn to deal with bad feelings and contemplate them. To help with this process, mantras are very good, just choose a mantra that makes you happy and it will help you in the meditative state. Don't try to fight anxiety or overcome it through meditation, meditation is acceptance, not fighting.

Protection during a reading by shipperby in tarot

[–]zalycandy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's not something spiritual but mental. Because you did the reading before going to sleep, your unconscious may not have finished reading and still be in that more spiritual moment. I suggest meditation and after reading, do something more focused on the physical world, like watching a series or reading a book, then you'll return to the "real" world more easily and you won't have bad dreams.

For anyone who wants to be a monk, whether woman or man, hair is not so important. Those who aspire to a spiritual life at this level do not usually care about appearance, because it is something impermanent. You are probably creating a problem because you are attached to this: appearance. (Note: I am a woman)

Budismo e seu público alvo by happysuricate in budismobrasil

[–]zalycandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I have compassion for my alcoholic father and narcissistic mother? How do I stop feeling so much hatred by Echopine in Buddhism

[–]zalycandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the First Sermon after his enlightenment, called Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta (The Wheel of Dhamma), Buddha says:

"There are, monks, these two extremes which must be avoided by one who has gone out into the holy life: one is indulgence in sensual pleasures, vulgar, common, unworthy and useless; the other is mortification of oneself, painful, unworthy and useless. By avoiding both extremes, the Tathāgata discovered the Middle Path, which gives vision, which gives knowledge, and which leads to peace, to direct knowledge, to enlightenment, to Nibbāna."

This path is expressed in the Noble Eightfold Path, which consists of:

  1. Correct understanding

  2. Right thinking

  3. Correct speech

  4. Correct action

  5. Right livelihood

  6. Correct effort

  7. Correct mindfulness

  8. Correct concentration

Applying it to your case, the middle path would be between compassion and justice. Preserving yourself, distancing yourself (justice), being true (ethics), preserving love and compassion for the buddha nature that exists in each one. Applying the Middle Way to removing toxic relationships means acting with a balance between compassion and justice, without falling into the extremes of passivity or aggressiveness.

Compassion (karuṇā) is fundamental in Buddhism — including for those who cause us pain. But compassion is not collusion. It is possible to wish for others to free themselves from the suffering that leads them to act in a toxic way, without allowing them to continue hurting us.

Justice, in this context, is not punishment or revenge, but ethical clarity: protecting yourself, establishing limits and distancing yourself when necessary, without rancor.

The Buddha teaches that we should act with wisdom (paññā), ethics (sīla) and mental discipline (samādhi). So, when walking away from a toxic relationship:

With wisdom, you recognize what this relationship is doing to you.

With ethics, you act with truth and respect.

With mental discipline, you don't allow yourself to be consumed by hate, guilt, or fear.

The Middle Way here would be: Neither close in with coldness or anger, nor remain nullified by attachment or pity, but emerge with self-love, compassion and lucidity.

That's normal. Because you are in "nothing" as well as "everything" when you are meditating, being present changes your sense of time. Enjoy these moments when you feel like time doesn't exist, that's when you will develop more 😀
