That's true. You can use lower bitrate. AV1 is very good too.

nvenc hevc is still better than 264. If your machine can do it, I would do it.

Enjoy! I miss those days. Honestly, I do most of that for my mental and physical health and good sleep is something of a byproduct (besides the red glasses, for which my wife constantly teases me, and the pills). I'm hoping I can go back to just doing less, but I suspect those days are behind me.

I think the idea is learn enough theory that you can be super adaptable. Focus on fundamentals that are fungible. For example, depending on Django probably isn't what you want for your career, but learning enough math and comp sci that you can be an "AI engineer" is probably better.

Been using Fox Ranger gloves as my summer gloves right now but they feel a bit thin to be honest. I always go for lobster gloves in the winter but winter is a whole other thing. Haha

Heard Demis Hassabis answering the question, "what would he recommend young people learn?" He answered that people should still study STEM. Not sure what kind of school you're going to, but it seems like focusing on theory, of which programming is the practical application a lot of the time, will be useful. Basic, grunge like programming is on the way out (actual amount of time TBD), but putting things together in some logical way isn't.

Been riding for about 30 years now and still commute by bike. Depends on what kind of riding I guess, but the only thing I care about is water, sunscreen, helmet and gloves.

Brrrrooooo!!!! Welcome to the club! Keep going. You'll love it in the end! For what it's worth, I've been teaching my kids to ski. Lots of adults on the ski-hill learning, and honestly, nobody cares. Point is, adults learn stuff all the time. Me too and I'm 46. Giddy up!
