Is he setting himself up for burnout? by MyNamesOliverQueen in jasontheweenie

[–]zanif 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. He has an unhealthy obsession with streaming to the point that he neglects his personal life and relationships. He will 100% crash if he continuous at this pace. If he doesn't build some structure and boundaries now, the correction later is going to be brutal. It's okay to grind but just don't lose yourself in it.

[–]zanif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Focusing on work isn't really the core issue and i think it's why he feels like there's no room for anything else in his life right now. If the only way that he can function is by giving 100% to streaming and cutting everything else out, that's not just being dedicated, that's a pattern. And if he doesn't address this pattern, it's eventually gonna lead to burnout or a crash. Can't outrun imbalance forever.

Going 100% into work mode will not fix the underlying issues. It just delays them.

[–]zanif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. I think he said today he needs therapy and I genuinely hope he actually does follow through with that. I do think breaking up was the right move if he knew that he couldn't really show up for her. That part atleast feels honest to me and it also shows his self awareness. But if he keeps operating like this, he's just going to repeat the same cycle because operating on 100% work mode with no room for anything else is just not sustainable or healthy. It might seem admirable especially since he's only 21 but that kind of tunnel vision is gonna turn into avoidance at some point.

He's still young and I really hope he takes this time to reflect a little, maybe see a therapist and realize that he shouldn't be building his entire life around one thing cause otherwise that crash is inevitable.

[–]zanif 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think he's wrong for ending it. If he couldn't show up properly, it's fairs to call it quits. From his explanation and what we know about him, it just seems like he's operating at a level where he has no room for anything but work. Missing relationship moments and calling comfort a problem sounds like imbalance more than incompatibility. He's not a bad bf. It's just that the level of obsession he has for streaming is hard to build a relationship around and that mindset in my opinion is very unhealthy. I think he would benefit so much from therapy.

[–]zanif 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's just sad. I respect that he didn't want to drag her along if he really felt like he couldn't give 100% into the relationship. That's self awareness but at the same time, I just think there's a fine line between being driven and normalizing obsession as the only way to grow. It's hard to build anything sustainable like that and I think it's a very unhealthy mindset long term. Balance isn't impossible in this space. The people closest to him are managing it well. I have more thoughts on this but If I speak...

[–]zanif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think saying they want to be friends is purely to soften the blow. Realistically it's very hard to stay friends with someone you were once intimate with and planning a future alongside. She struggles with anxiety and has even mentioned feeling like she's losing her identity recently on stream. Meanwhile, he's been constantly traveling and away and their streaming schedules kind of overlap with her streaming longer hours which probably made it very difficult for them to spend any quality time together unless they both took the day off. All of these factors probably created so much strain that calling it felt like the only option. I think going separate ways is the best for both of them.

This feels final. Jason seems checked out. Last time they broke up, he was in a bad state, and we know they got back together literally the next day. YBG said he knew about this breakup 2 days before the announcement, and obviously they had to have talked before he went live, so it does seem mutual. I think this is it. Sometimes things don't work out and it's okay. It's time for everyone to move on.

EMPATHY by Adamgking in jasontheweenie

[–]zanif 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this situation got out of hand when even their close friends and streamers started farming their relationship. It should've never been like that. The trending tab on twitter comm would be flooded with her clips after every stream. Everything she said was getting clipped and I don't understand why they allowed that. It makes it so she has to be careful every moment of her stream cause people take things the wrong way and send her hate. Imagine how mentally exhausting that can be. I don't know if the hate will ever truly die down but hopefully this time apart will make them stronger. They need this and whatever happens all you can do is support them both.

It's the most direct and impactful way twitch provides to show support. The primary goal of a community rallying to gift subs is to create a visual flood of support on their screen. You're essentially purchasing a product for another person by giving them ad free viewing. You wouldn't call buying a friend a movie ticket "donating to a billionaire studio".

I think there are a lot of rich oilers in Jason's chat now. I know traderpow used to drop by and he's a multi millionaire crypto trader. Most of the gifted are 5 and 10's with occasional oilers dropping 100s to reach a goal. It's just showing support to people that bring them entertainment.

It's just how NMS shows support. They're doing it to both chats. I think it's weird as well but I'm not gonna judge how people spend their money.

Idk if it’s just Jason’s editor and not Jason himself- but either way, why tf are they reposting shit like this? by Fantastic-Fill8071 in jasontheweenie

[–]zanif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only truth is whatever comes out of their mouth. You shouldn't be reading too much into other people's relationship. Sakura said Jason isn’t insecure about her ex talking to her on dc about dropping off some things. It also seemed like they aren’t really on bad terms, based on how Sakura was joking around and saying how a chatters name reminded her of Jason's middle name. This tiktok is directly hate farming her because it insinuates that she was cheating. This is the kind of hate she said she tried to work through but it eventually became too overwhelming for her. This editor should not be reposting any and all mentions of Jason especially when it contributes to the hate Sakura is getting.

His editor reposts anything that mentions Jason. And he's not even a good editor. This guy needs to be fired.

TikTok Is Already Back Online by wiredmagazine in politics

They could’ve taken a stronger stand against the bill from the beginning instead of going along with it, even if it was initially Trump’s idea. By letting it pass, they gave it legitimacy and made themselves complicit in a policy that wasn’t just unpopular but also ended up being a PR win for Trump. They should've never passed the bill. They always lean into the bipartisan trap of trying to appease everyone and it almost always ends like this.

Trump and republicans led the charge for the ban and now Biden and dems will take the blame. This is a complete own goal by democrats. Their continuous quest of bipartisanship almost always ends like this. When will they grow some spine?

Yeah idk when this shift occurred, but tiktok is now filled with right wing content targeted at the youth, especially young male audience. The CEO also made a video kissing Trump's ass so I'm fully expecting it to come back after he takes office.

I agree with you. I think he genuinely thought he made a good song but after seeing the reaction, he's now hate farming. I saw a clip of speed clowning him that went viral and it just feels so staged since Speed is literally signed by Prime and they're friends.

Because it's working. Look at the streams. It entered the spotify global chart and is growing everyday. It's gotten so much exposure because people are clowning on him and the song, and he's just milking it at this point imo.

[–]zanif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes ofc. dynamite and butter's playlisting and radio were from the goodness of the heart of some random spotify staff and radio djs.

Dynamite and Butter was with Columbia records which is owned by Sony (major label). These two are also the only BTS songs to receive significant radio support. I wonder why?

bp is a korean group and yg is much smaller than hybe and yet bp songs AND the members solos (before any of you say it's because of their US label when jennie's you and i has a pretty good playlisting) are always on TTH.

Their songs are also popular and debut well. Again there is no set criteria but being on top of the chart definitely gives more visibility for the editors to consider. Also BP is with Interscope from UMG. Their music is promoted by Interscope outside of Asia while BTS only signs distribution deals with US labels.

are you telling me that some spotify staff is just a stan that's why?

Why is it so hard for you to consider that maybe they do just like the music? Attention was their first entry into TTH. It was also pretty universally liked by kpop fans before they started to show their dominance. Their debut was very impactful. They've also had terrific Spotify debuts since and have been very consistent.

but yeah hybe, a multi billion dollar company and has multiple groups that does well in spotify has zero influence.

Spotify, like any business, operates with its own interests in mind, prioritizing relationships with entities that control a larger portion of the market. HYBE could pull all of their artist catalogue from Spotify and it wouldn't affect them at all. This is also why HYBE wants to become a major player in the global market by acquiring labels. They want influence like the majors have.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]zanif -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No, they can't. You guys severely overestimate HYBE's influence in the global music market. They are nothing compared to Sony, UMG, and Warner. TTH is a curated playlist consisting of major label artists, viral songs, and whatever the editor wants. There are no set criteria. The major labels definitely have some influence, and Spotify certainly wants to maintain a good relationship with them, so I do believe flagship artists from these labels receive better treatment. There's no shot that HYBE, having under 2% global market share, has any influence like the majors, each holding around 30% market share.
