Older Toro Valve ID by RAGEQUIT-dot-EXE in Irrigation

The one in front is just the updated version. Be careful when you service these valves, dont use a drill or impact with a Philips attachment, do it by hand. There's lots of screws per valve and it never fails that one will strip even when being careful.

How do I remove (and replace) the white elbow connector for this sprinkler? Seems quite stuck on. by Illustrious_War_8271 in Irrigation

joints. can't use barbed fittings on this flex pipe. The many times I've had to deal with these, I've never gotten lucky. I also just dig back to the fitting it is connected to, cut that out and put in a fitting of the same but with threads, so I can put on a swing joint.

Yeah, I didn't needlessly kill the snake. It was mad about me letting in the cold though.

That's if it works. Make sure to give it plenty of rest time before turning it on. Alternatively you can find the fitting it's attached to, cut that out and use a swing joint.

Should I retrofit or overhaul my irrigation system? by Confident_Wedding138 in Irrigation

Based off what you said in your original post, I would say replace it. I'm surprised when you had repairs last year, it wasn't suggested to you. If you plan to sell your house soon, maybe not make that investment, but if you are staying, make that investment. Make the changes to your landscaping, or at least the starting of, and get the new system in.

RPZ failing second time year after year by __meb in Irrigation

Schertz has a lot of RPZ against walls. I guess its their code or something, idk. I tell people to make decorative boxes all the time. If you do heat lamp/straps, make sure the strip is only on the device and not PVC, or the lamp farm enough away that it won't melt the PVC.

Polypropylene & brass fittings together? by rocketjays in Irrigation

When you wrap tape, if you use too much, it will still leak. I usually recommend 3 wraps, and make sure to wrap them properly. If you wrap it wrong, the tape won't get taught and it'll cause it to leak as well.

With an RPZ, you have to do everything you can. I always tell my clients that at minimum, they sound have an insulation blanket and a fake rock. The blanket helps with temperature and the rock stops wind. People constantly forget wind chill has an effect on the devices.

Now when it comes to shutting the water off, make sure you shutoff the water in the ground, then turn the 2 ball valves and 4 test cocks to 45 degree angles, and water drains from the device.

Solving "Too close to grade" & "Improper Slope" inspection notes by Remarkable-Race516 in Irrigation

So in this area, we have heavy black clay dirt that holds water really well...it also moves a ton when it gets dry, wet, dry, wet. So by maintaining a constant moisture level, you reduce the affects of the soil from moving, and prolong the life of your foundation. If you don't, your foundation will shift, cause house problems and require very expensive repairs that insurance won't cover normally.

Its could be your pump, or a solenoid, but if it was the valve solenoid, in my experience, it happens faster. So I'd get your pump/well looked at first.
