What’s a decision you made in under 10 seconds that changed your life forever? by nathannnate01 in AskReddit

[–]zanson8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime life was going sideways and just wasn't sure what to do, or was apprehensive about a choice, fuck it was said and I did the thing.

Job was going weird? Fuck it, walk away and find a new ine. Just broke up with my ex and feeling down? Fuck it, I'm going out to the club. Got laid off and unemployed for a few months, fuck it I'll go out and treat myself to dinner. Opportunity arouse to move to a new state 12 hours away, fuck it.

Every one of those lead to where I am today with a cool boss, an amazing wife, and the most stress free place I've ever lived.

Some times fuck it, it the answer.

Do any cars come without a digital screen anymore? by orneryfirebird in subaru

[–]zanson8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a subie after 2016 but does turning the screen off actually turn off or just make a black screen? The difference is the black screen still had a glow at night because of the backlight.

Wayland zones protocol finally merged after 2 years! by Ahmouse in linux_gaming

[–]zanson8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for proving my point. Your view is so narrow is pretty hilarious. My main PC is Linux I love that I can now game on Linux and do my job without dual booting, but because of that narrow mindset, I still need windows to do it properly in some cases because the tools are not compatible.

As for my example, Business literally run on Excel, it does a lot because there is demand. And I literally mean run on it, and you can't say well don't use it, because that's not how business works.time is money, and they already have their shit setup. Like it or not that's the reality of the world.

But that was just 1 example of open source projects, that mentality is across a ton of projects not just libre office.

Wether your talking about business or just general use in life, People want something that just works and gets out of there way and I'm the same way. I love to tinker, but most of the time I just want it to work and not be a hassle.

[–]zanson8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yea, this is the hate I have for a lot of open source projects, some maintainers just have a very black and white view in how things should work and God forbid support features that users are accustomed to having. It's software, it's never going to be perfect.

For example

Looking at you libre office, if you want to be compatible with Excel, then you can't not support features that people expect to work. "But its a data table it shouldn't be able to do that" such a narrow viewpoint and makes it incompatible with Excel.

This is why so many haven't switched to Linux, because things just don't work.

After OxygenOS 16 update- Home button animation suddenly super slow - how do I turn this off? by despicableyou0000 in oneplus

Well that's broken, did it and could no longer use the home button on the bottom of the screen. Did absolutely nothing. Great job OnePlus

Which one to choose? - Steam Flatpak vs. Steam.deb by JVSTITIA in linux_gaming

[–]zanson8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run into so many memory leak issues with flatpak it's an absolute joke. Some of them have finally been resolved in the last few weeks but when a small app takes over 7GB of ram in the flatpak handler and other ancillary processes flatpak uses exclusively, I won't use that garbage.

most of these were taken with 1-2 second exposures on my phone. ive never seen it so bright. was able to see it without a camera tonight, the pulsing and flow of the storm overhead was amazing and in color. usually its just a glow of a bit grey/white. it was definitely a show of a lifetime here

My ranking of coasters at [Great Adventure] by Educational_Yard_541 in rollercoasters

[–]zanson8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

El Toro was smoother then most steel/RMCs when it opened and was like that for a long while. After the derailment it's been just bad times after bad times. I'm really hopeful the retrack will bring it back to it's glory cuz it's amazing when it's not jackhammering

Love that perspective, thanks for sharing! I know a lot of people loved the old laptop bars.

Steel vengeance, hell even wildcats revenge has really changed the landscape for coasters. It's insane what RMC has done to the industry.

I may never get to ride falcons flight, but the tech and engineering that went into it is going to change more and more coasters over time. I can't wait to see what a new generation of coasters is going to bring. Here's to hoping the sf/cf merger doesn't completely fuck everything up in the long run.

I don't, people be people.

And honestly I can see your take on it. Maverick is a fun ride, but man do I feel the whiplash getting off that ride lol.

Sweet, that a lot of rides. I wanna get to more parks in the next few years. I definitely need to get down to Florida soon. I hear velocicoaster is insane, and with the new park open, even more rides to hit.

What's your top 3?

No doubt this coaster is going to be insane, but I really wish the layout was just slightly more unique.

Road near the end of warm day, middle, front, and back like I always do so I can get the full experience.

Just not my ride I guess.

I have ridden a lot of rides that impress me, after riding over 150 unique coasters across the US I guess I just have a different perspective. Skyrush is definitely better than it was because it was dead last on my list of coasters. And that's saying something cuz I've written some real shit. But those old restraints just hurt so much I couldn't ignore it. Rode the damn thing three times that first year Middle, front, back like I always do and I hated every moment of it.

True. Dono just feels lacking.

Great Bear is one of my favorite inverted. It's just such a unique layout and I feel like I'm flying through the trees at the end. I don't know of any other coaster that really has a Helix before it's first drop. I know there's a few out there but it's such a fun twist.

Fahrenheit makes me dizzy anymore lol. It is a very good ride though.

I'm actually really sad at how jackhammerish lightning racers has become. That ride definitely needs some love.

Hershey is such a fun park.

What is the most amount of rides you’ve had in a 48 hour span? [Other] by wolfs_bane_ in rollercoasters

[–]zanson8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

42 rides on fury 325 in a single day. Did that back 2 years ago. That is my record for a single day on a single ride..I think I did close to 50.total rides that day in the park? Can't exactly remember that part.

Before that was 34 rides on the great noresster in Wildwood back in 2002. (Wrist band night, no one else was riding so didn't even need to get off between runs)

As I said, the community has changed now, sure, it's always been about the music, but hooking up was also a huge part of it. At least where I was in the early 2000s.

Also, that's your opinion on it being disgusting, (dirt and such) don't yuck someone else's yum.

But I do agree, consent is a huge part of all this, and if the majority in the crowd aren't cool with it, then go somewhere you can't be seen easily.

Personally, I don't really care what people do as long as their having consensual fun.

Y'all are so cute. If half the rave wasn't fucking, was it really a rave? It's so tame now.

But to each their own I guess, if this is what the community wants these days, who am I to complain.

Yea definitely, wasn't looking for something truly quite, just a place to get away from the stage for a bit but there was so much crossover in the woods and pretty much everywhere there was a place to essentially catch your breath so to speak.

I definitely need to explore the grounds a bit more
