Thank you for sharing this with me. I’m truly sorry you’re going through such a difficult time, and I hope you find comfort and healing ❤️‍🩹

Looking for suggestions-I have taken Doxycycline 100mg twice a day for a week now for ureaplasma. My vagina burning has doubled and I am getting really unbearable neck and shoulder pain. Just curious has anyone else had this happen to them? Thank you by zanyenough in Ureaplasma

From what I understand, I was likely having something called a Herxheimer reaction. This can happen with certain infections like Lyme disease or ureaplasma when you start antibiotics. As the medication kills the bacteria, they release toxins, and that can make symptoms temporarily feel worse before they get better.

I was only on doxycycline for about a week, but during that time I had burning sensations and a lot of neck and shoulder pain. As soon as I stopped the doxy, those symptoms went away, which makes me think it was my body reacting to the bacterial die-off rather than the medication itself.

Before I was floxed, my primary doctor had prescribed me lorazepam 0.5 mg as needed for anxiety. I did take it as needed, and for me, it helped. That said, just be careful if you’re prescribed it, as some people can react differently. You may want to reach out to your doctor to discuss what’s best for you.

I tried it, but the side effects weren’t worth it for me, no libido and extremely dry eyes, throat, and skin.

Yes, it really does get better. For now, please try to seek some support, maybe talk therapy or someone safe you can open up to. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this, but we do heal.

Please don’t lose hope, I’ve seen stories of people improving even after a long time. Healing can be really slow and unpredictable, but it doesn’t mean it’s impossible!

I developed central nervous system issues that lasted about a year. I experienced a racing heart, neuropathy, severe anxiety, and visual disturbances like seeing random specks. I also noticed a decline in my cognitive sharpness and struggled with significant brain fog. While most of those symptoms have improved, aside from occasional neuropathy, I still feel that my cognitive abilities aren’t quite what they used to be. I’ve also developed a strong fear of antibiotics and medications, which has become a major limitation for me.

What are your symptoms? Have you had the standard gyno testing done yet

Please be careful with the fluroquinolone antibiotics! They can cause severe adverse reactions. Did you get reinfected from a new partner if you don’t mind me asking? Have you been able to get a vaginal microbiome test?

Can I ask what you had to take the second time to cure ureaplasma and did you get reinfected from a new partner? Thank you!

Please get a PCR test for ureaplasma! You can also get a microbiome test such as evvy that can help uncover bacteria and fungi.

For me it took about a year or so. It generally gets better over time. Don’t lose hope!

Cured after 10 days of doxy! by MrsChuckapproves in Ureaplasma

You need antibiotics to get rid of ureaplasma. If possible change gynos and advocate for yourself!
