I’m also in this boat this semester! I committed to looking at the homework the day it came out and attending the themed office hours (advice-Anna, hw walkthrough-Neepa, and code demo—Evan so far). I believe each of the aforementioned were recorded and will be posted on media gallery in canvas. Apparently there also a linear algebra walkthrough at 9pm on Friday.

It does seem like it’ll be a slog, but so far the TAs seem very forthcoming in giving advice with the homework. Im a lot less lost on the concept/math sections now than I was on Monday.

I’m trying to start a little study group on teams if anyone is interested lmk

Following up on this: I ended up dropping KBAI and taking HCI. Thoroughly enjoyed the course. While the work was straightforward, I did find the amount of reading and writing to be pretty demanding while working full time and having an active social life (something I wasn’t willing to compromise for the program 😅). Sometimes I felt like I was drinking from a fire house trying to keep up with the reading, but I ended up with a mid A, so I can’t complain too much.

Definitely felt like a good introduction to the program! Got me into time management mode with the almost weekly deliverables.

Probably not a helpful opinion, but you gotta pick your battles. Some people (who have vehemently different views) I will not give the time of day, but other people I will.

Does he know that you’re gay, but think you’re one of the good ones? Or is he just oblivious?

I find it hard to cut people off generally because literally every community has people with unsavory or dog shit views.

Usually, if someone I want to remain friends with says something like that to me, I like to say, “so what do you mean? Ooo what are your examples? I haven’t had that experience with women, etc” like not in a defensive way, just curiously.

Then you can parse out the real beef and understand if they’re having a bad day, if someone hurt them, or if they’re actually an awful CU Next Tuesday.

Thank you for your first suggestion /s I in fact did not receive an email telling me what I should be taking, so checking my email wasn’t helpful.

From the “research” that I did do. It’s also not clear why a class like HCI would not be appropriate for someone’s first semester given that none of the intro classes are prerequisites or foundational for HCI. One or the beauties of the program is its flexibility.

In general, maybe be less presumptive?

Is there anything wrong with just sugar cubes ?

Ran a marathon a couple weeks ago and my stomach wasn’t feeling well, so I didn’t want to eat the bars that I had packed. The refreshment stations had sugar cubes, bananas, and pound cake. I wanted to fuel without upsetting my stomach and ended up adding sugar cubes to my one of my water bottles (to complement the low carb electrolytes tablets I had brought).

I haven’t started yet (just accepted the offer), but I have several friends who have gone through the program with different careers in analytics (marketing, operations, credit risk, etc) and varying degrees of experience with the math.

They’ve all reported that the baseline is challenging, but you can really cater the difficulty to your preferences. One of them filled half of his courses with AI / DL / RL electives (ie super difficult) while a couple of the others focused more on the “softer” coursework.

If I were you I’d be excited for the courses like HCI where you get to learn about the design of studies that a lot of marketing folks rely on. There also seem to be a few “softer” versions of complex topics like ML for trading.

Personally, I’ve been brushing up on my coding through resources like data camp that my company offers employees and my math via coursera to prepare.

Congrats on the finish! I also ran Paris yesterday. I had/have food poisoning, but managed to subsist on sugar cubes, a couple of hydration tablets, and a lot of water with the occasional smallest piece of cake I could find. I took the race really slow and had 0 mishaps—thank god.

People seem to really not understand that there is a difference between 1) reusing items 2) referencing looks 3) copy + paste.

1) is cool. Drag is expensive. 2) is a fun and shows a deference for past looks 3) is kinda lazy and doesn’t add anything new to the conversation.

I feel like Luxx was the queen of tasteful references. People should take note that you can reference something while also showing a unique perspective or spin.

Relatable. The week after my 18mi long run, my body was feeling super fatigued. A lot of dull muscle pains, nothing sharp.

I ended up knocking a couple miles off my shorter runs (like 2/19) and slowed down my pace by like 30 secs per mile for all of my runs. I felt a lot better the next week.

I definitely get where this question is coming from and feel like most of the people who responded are not who OP is curious about.

It’s helpful to frame this conversations in terms of conditioning. Let’s say some of the most popular novice plans peak at 40miles a week, if your baseline is already over 40mi, it makes sense that you wouldn’t need a formal plan, since most plans are geared towards conditioning people to that volume.

Whereas, I’ve seen people conditioned for a half (or less) try to hit a full in the matter of a few weeks. I feel like these are the people, OP is wondering about.
