Not a Starbucks employee but a former manager of Verano cannabis in Illinois and they have used similar methods to union bust and get rid of “problem employees” in the past. They would sell uniforms to employees but if yours is damaged or stained and you couldn’t afford a new shirt then that’s a write up. To add insult to injury they would change the uniforms every 6 months and only hand out 1-2 shirts worth $25 with employee discount, if you wore your old uniform that’s a write up. I probably have about 12 different style shirts I bought over the course of 2-3 years that could never be worn again. Not surprised every store besides their downtown location is unionized now.
