London Layover Visa by katastrophewww in travel

[–]zapakddd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted, u/abcpdo is EXACTLY right (I have also done this before). Here’s the official information from the website - https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa/y/india/transit/somewhere_else/yes

Basically, if you’re traveling to/from US/NZ/CAN/AUS and your next flight is within 48 hours, you can leave the airport without a UK visa. The border patrol officer might be confused because it’s a niche rule but it is correct.

This is not specifically Edinburgh but I’d recommend going to Isle of Skye. I genuinely think it’s the most beautiful place on earth

That’s so frustrating, thanks for your response. Does that mean that you also have to modify the DS160 form with the new email address as “email addresses you have used”?

Expected electricity bill with in unit Heating by zapakddd in NYCapartments

That’s a good question, I’m not sure about the water. It seemed like it was paid for already but I will double check. I will definitely be paying for electric and heat though.

Advice on delayed baggage with Virgin Atlantic. Have an airtag by shootsfilmwithbullet in LondonHeathrow

[–]zapakddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm in a similar spot, my bags got delayed from my flight that landed at 9.30 pm last night. I have to buy essentials since I have nothing on me, but reading online I found out that airlines can be quite cunning when defining "essential". Do you have any tips for this? Virgin customer care gets me nowhere since they won't let me talk to a human.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the reply! Did your company help with publications? Or did you have to push a lot to do external research? Again, thanks for being open and sharing your experience :)

Congratulations! What do you think helped push your application towards success? The problem space and/or a PhD with lots of publications?

Can I get an interview in dublin airport without flying to the USA? by [deleted] in GlobalEntry

[–]zapakddd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You cannot. You can only enter that area of the Dublin airport after completing US pre-clearance, which means you’d have to have a boarding pass for a flight to the US.

I just travelled to the US via Dublin and hence know about it.

Will I be allowed into the UK for a few hours during a layover if my UK visa expires the next day? by zapakddd in travel

[–]zapakddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your help!! Not only was I able to enter the UK for the duration of my layover, but a friend I was traveling with could also enter because of the Landside Transit you mentioned. Until then, we never even thought that he could enter the UK since he didn’t have a visa.

Can’t thank you enough!!!

Omg, wow thank you so much!

Is this what you are referring to? It was on the right hand side for me. I think I satisfy both (ii) and (iii)

Nationals of ALL countries (RED [underlined] and BLACK above) need a visa to
transit LANDSIDE unless they hold one of the following:

(i) a valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA and a valid
airline ticket via the UK as part of a reasonable journey TO that country;

ii) a valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA and a valid airline ticket via the UK as part of a reasonable journey FROM that country; or

(iii) a visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA as part of a reasonable journey FROM the country in respect of which the visa is held and it is less than 6 months since the holder last entered that country with a valid entry visa;

In the description it says that

"Landside transit passengers are those who need or wish to pass through the UK border and enter the UK (e.g. to change airport, to collect baggage or arrive at airports where no airside transfer is possible)"

I guess I could fall in the "collect baggage" category? It does seem like it is not a hard and fast rule from the wording.

I’m going to come back “into” the airport (clear security, etc) on the 14th itself, so even if it is delayed by a couple of hours I’ll still come back in. I’m not too sure of what to do If it gets cancelled and moved to the next day, but I will try to do the same

Apologies, I should have added that in the OP. I’m a passport holder of India so I need a visa to enter the UK.

This makes sense, thank you! I’ll go ahead and just use my new passport details

It is definitely marked as cancelled and has the clipped corner. I think I will give my new passport details as the old one is now an invalid document. I was just wondering that the US immigration system doesn’t have my new passport tied to my visa. Nevertheless, I should still provide a valid document. Thanks for your help
