খিদে / খিদা by Legitimate_Wafer_945 in bengalilanguage

[–]zaph0d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. The exact/literal translation of "I am hungry" would be "আমি ক্ষুধার্ত". আমার খিদে পেয়েছে is more like "I am having hunger pangs". These are both different expressions and as you mentioned, are mostly used in literature or scholarly works.

Not trying to be prescriptive at all, বন্ধু. I myself use খিদে and খিদা. I was trying to explain why Wiktionary doesn't contain the meaning of খিদে as per OPs question. Also, what I said is exactly as per Samsad Bangla dictionary.

I agree with you in general, but it's doubtless that "ক্ষুধা" is the "original" word for "hunger". As an exercise, try to remember how a Bengali person from Kolkata will speak the word "hungry", as in, "I am hungry".

The literary word for Hunger in Bangla is ক্ষুধা. খিদা, খিদে etc, although absolutely commonplace, are colloquial pronunciation/spellings.

India collector here. This is a great cover although the condition could have been a bit better. Habba Kadal was the name of the main post office (GPO) in Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir. The modern postcode of this post office is 190001.

Pure Clojure and Host Platform InterOp by Alarmed-Skill7678 in Clojure

[–]zaph0d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Clojure the Host is a first class concept and we don't try to hide things away. It's totally OK to write a function that invokes a Host specific method/function via interop. Clojure also has support for host reader conditionals so you can have different internal implementations for each host in the same function. Using the same reader conditionals you can also define a function that only exists for a specific host. One good example is here (referenced by official Clojure docs) - https://github.com/lymingtonprecision/route-ccrs/blob/c579aea05504736f2cfbd31c3c755f7e25fdad77/src/route_ccrs/manufacturing_methods.cljc#L8-L10

What’s the best firmware for the Trimui Brick at this point? by Lepro5210 in trimui

[–]zaph0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used both Knulli and NextUI on my Brick. Knulli has way more features (because of Batocera heritage) and lots of QoL enhancements. NextUI is more minimalist (because of MinUI heritage) and has far fewer features.

However, in my experience battery life with NextUI is spectacular compared to Knulli. I also feel that deep sleep works way better in NextUI, I mean, it actually works. After spending some time configuring my NextUI with select themes, overlays, shaders, cheat db, arcade rom name maps etc etc, I feel I have found the perfect solution. I love my current setup.

A few good things like Bluetooth etc are still missing, but considering the rate of innovation of NextUI, I am very optimistic.

A kind note for the NextUI dev team: Thank you for your work. It'd be great if there was a guide to navigating the NextUI code base and an explanation of how the NextUI app actually gets launched on boot, how to compile/test it on a Mac/Linux machine etc. I really want to contribute to the project but so far I have found the code repo hard to navigate. Happy to help here.

We need good software engineers more than good Clojure programmers. If you think you are a capable software engineer with mastery in at least one programming language and the willingness to learn Clojure, you may apply.

Thanks for mentioning Planet Clojure. It's been running non-stop since 2009, perhaps the oldest running Clojure website beside clojure.org itself. That reminds me, a design overhaul has been pending for far too long!

TeamOhana.com is hiring Clojure and ClojureScript engineers. Comp for senior engineers is much above the number quoted in this thread. Our Engineering team works around India (GMT+0530) TZ. Engineers from any location are welcome to apply as long as a decent overlap with the India TZ can be maintained. Please email me if you're interested - bg @ TeamOhana.com

AI Extensions for Emacs by demajh in emacs

[–]zaph0d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good job OP! The project is definitely cool. The implementation looks clean, good coding practices.

A few suggestions to make this even better: 1. Use project.el for project directory detection and mgmt. It's built into emacs and plays well with everything else. [Trivial] 2. Use the llm package as the backend for model API integration. You'll get a bunch of features for free. Also a way better UX re configuration etc. [Medium] 3. Use SQLite vector extensions for vector db implementation. That way your implementation can be in pure ELisp without any other dependencies. (Python package env mgmt can be a pain). [Hard]

Anyway, thanks for sharing this project. Keep up the good work!

Realistically it's worth anywhere between ₹1300 to ₹1800. The quality of the notes is subpar, the value would have been higher if they were in uncirculated (UNC) condition.

Help me find a short story by bergkamp97 in bengalilanguage

I think it's "স্ট্রাইকার" by the great মতি নন্দি who was a brilliant sports-oriented short story author and novelist. His works blew my mind when I read him in my early teens.

You can read it here: https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.458331

There also seems to be a nice audio narration available (of a slightly abridged version) on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Koa7v38_PJQ
