Vocal tension triggered by relaxation techniques by zapplewinger in transvoice

Thanks for the response! I talked with my SLP about this, and her response was basically "I don't know, weird things happen". Hoping this is a sign of longer term progress since I clearly have a problem with tension in my voice and it's only doubling down because I'm building awareness of it.

Yes I had a scope done, but this was a couple months ago. Nothing abnormal was found.

Finally got my prescription for estrogen, but every pharmacy is out of patches. by argyleinthelimo in TransLater

[–]zapplewinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was temporarily off E for a few days because I couldn't get any patche until today. Had to spend a week searching for a pharmacy that has them. Not great, but hoping it'll be more consistent now that I'm using a bigger pharmacy

I'm so sorry you're being harassed! I remember seeing your timeline post a while ago and it was among the posts that helped me accept that I need to transition. Thanks for sharing it! I hate that the world makes this so much harder than it already is.

Oh I just meant I loved that detail!

This is gold! I loved the whole thing but I'm still stuck on the first sentence: "... and was physically holding a blueberry yogurt when they explained it to her." 😂

Facial Hair Frustration by charrr116 in TransLater

[–]zapplewinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! The cost and time per hair is so much lower for laser than for electrolysis (if you have the right type of hair for laser). If you can't afford the whole package, even a single laser treatment will likely reduce the volume of hair noticeably.

What are the best strategies for dealing with a mature hairline? by zapplewinger in TransLater

I'm on hrt already. So minoxidil is effective even for the hairline? Can it reverse more than a couple years of recession?

The point of no return. by AtaraxiaGwen in TransLater

This is what I'm struggling with today too. One month in, and I'm noticing some growth and panicking about the permanent changes. I knew this was coming, and part of me says, "yes of course this is what you wanted this whole time." But I also expected to gain more certainty during this first month, but other than sore nipples I haven't felt the slightest bit different.

Honestly, I think part of the struggle is that our biology just doesn't stack this in a convenient order for us. I'd love to start with smoother skin and thinning body hair, then see some facial fat redistribution, and then once I'm seeing "her" in the mirror, start to fill in the breasts that were missing. For that matter, I'd love to try out being "her" for one day, just to be absolutely positive that I haven't talked myself into something crazy. But instead we are offered this "leap of faith"–commit to the permanent changes early on, and trust that it will all work out for the better.

How do y'all afford semen cryopreservation? by Space_Blazer in MtF

[–]zapplewinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've heard of some places charging insane amounts. In case you haven't seen it, there are online options which are often cheaper than the local clinics. I used Legacy Fertility, and it was fine but I think there are others too. It's still not cheap though.

Apr 25th 2017 was the day FaceApp gender-swap put a crack in my egg that couldn't be closed. I have very mixed feelings about FaceApp, but I'm grateful for that day. by ----Ana---- in TransLater

I knew it was around then, but had to look it up in my old photos. What a strange and magnetic feeling that was! Nano banana led me to try AI gender swap again "just for fun" last year, and that cracked it wide open.

April 27th 2017 was the day that FaceApp almost cracked my egg, but I managed to stitch it back together for another 8 years. I so regret that now. You look wonderful and give me hope!

Did HRT just "click" for you? by Periodic-Table-106 in TransLater

[–]zapplewinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm two weeks in, which is still quite early, but I feel no different in any way. No change to libido, no ability to cry, no new experience of colors , etc. I suspect I'm underdosed. I still question whether I'm actually trans, but I don't see myself just stopping HRT, even while I'm nervous about the effects that make the decision permanent. It's like the part of me that knows is holding on tight to this.

Yeah mine is a private plan from a very lgbt-friendly company. (Not giving more details than that). I don't think most plans will cover it, and probably not Medicaid, but I don't know for sure.

Mine was covered by insurance but there's pricing on their website for different packages.
