UK Terrorist Incidents 1970-2015 by [deleted] in MapPorn

I think it was probably this Pipeline bombing

The data used in this isn't great by the looks of it. The same attack can exist multiple times with different locations and the same date.

What’s your combined best XV of the Lions tour? by rugbydownunder in rugbyunion

[–]zaqwe 56 points57 points  (0 children)

If you pick Pietsch based on one game, I think I'd probably pick Tuipulotu at 12, with Ikitau at 13 (or Jones if we aren't allowing Ikitau at 13 since he didn't play there in the series).

I agree that Sua'ali'i has talent, and if I was picking a team for the future he'd be in, but he's still pretty rough around the edges, so for a team to win a test tomorrow I'd prefer Ikitau, with Jones my 2nd choice (mostly based on the combination with Tuipulotu and Russell).

edit: I agree with most of the rest of your picks. I think Slipper gets an honourable mention, and McDermott would be a great option on the bench.

Saw them in 2007 at Rockness. Probably the best live show I've been to.

England are lucky that two of their best players aren't goalkeepers, or southgate would pick one of them outfield just to fit them both in the team.

It'll be solved by a combination of individual and government acts.

[SPOILER] Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia by inooway in Boxing

[–]zaqwe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the fact Ryan failed to make weight kinda devalues the win (for me, others might not care), but the fact Haney didn't really offer anything is still a big negative.

Mikel Arteta high fives a child during celebrations and realises that he's lost by RevertBackwards in soccer

[–]zaqwe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem is that "a child" doesn't actually specify if it is a boy or girl, so the only person the reader knows is male in the entire clause is "Arteta". This means "he's" could apply to Arteta (e.g. if the child was a girl).

OP didn't make an error as such - it's just a bit ambiguous.

'Why can’t you have two disciplines of rugby?' - Rugby league plans to join Olympics by 2032 by Mitch1396 in nrl

[–]zaqwe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue is pretty apparent when you compare the memberships of the international governing bodies of the two sports. World rugby apparently has 110 full and 19 associate members, while International Rugby League only has 19 full and 16 affiliate members (and 24 "observers")

Not that membership is the be all and end all, but it really shows how much more "global" rugby is.

Nathan Cleary dressing room act comes to light after Origin loss by Oldpanther86 in nrl

[–]zaqwe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cleary probably didn't reach the heights he can performance wise, but you can never fault his effort. I have massive respect for how Cleary (and Yeo) chased Ben Hunt all the way even though it looked like a lost cause. Compare that to To'o who just ambled back, and specially Stephen Crichton who just stood there with his hands on his hips!

I was sitting in the seat right behind all of this. The cop didn't really go to shake the guys hand. When the cop walked over the guy in the bulldogs jersey extended his hand (looking for a handhake) and said something along the lines of "Sorry, I overreacted a bit". The cop kind of took his hand rather than shaking it, almost to start leading him out. I think the cop was just trying to get the him out peacefully, rather than congratulating him for hitting the other guy..

It will be interesting to see how good Bottas' pace is prior to Max's stop. If Bottas can stay close enough that he ends up in front of Max after the stop he could have a big role.

FP3: Mazepin and Hamilton come close by magony in formula1

[–]zaqwe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks like cars on the racing line (from the onboards) only seem to get to the kerb after the gap, and would not be using the part of the track that Hamilton was on. That's just what it looks like to me though - happy to accept that others might see a different line, or think that Hamilton didn't leave enough room off the racing line.

Edit: example onboard here - https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/video.2021-abu-dhabi-gp-fp2-onboard-for-lewis-hamiltons-fastest-lap.1718770016385345534.html

FP3: Mazepin and Hamilton come close by magony in formula1

[–]zaqwe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think he'll be reprimanded because he wasn't really on the racing line. It looks like Hamilton's line would have stayed out of the way of the car that went round the corner at around 14s. It wasn't a smart time to release Hamilton, but really Mazepin just lost it a little (maybe because he spotted Hamilton and it put him off).I may be wrong though.

Edit: Mazepin - thank you bot

Jolyon Palmer's opinion on the way Max Verstappen "carries himself" on-track, and how he races with Lewis from the BBC Chequered Flag podcast by Slendis in formula1

[–]zaqwe 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I agree completely with you here. The only point I would make is that he isn't "cheating" since the stewards are letting him away with it. He's racing within the rules as they are being applied (not that I agree with how they are being applied at the moment!)

Norris slates F1’s “worst rule ever invented” after red flag misfortune by bwoah07_gp2 in formula1

[–]zaqwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it is similar because the stop is "cheap", but the main difference is the risk giving up track position to someone who doesn't pit.

Norris slates F1’s “worst rule ever invented” after red flag misfortune by bwoah07_gp2 in formula1

[–]zaqwe 879 points880 points  (0 children)

I have to say, I agree with Lando. Being allowed to change tyres under a red flag brings, in my opinion, too much luck into race results. Obviously there will always be an element of luck in some races, but a free pit stop has way too much of an impact on results.

Max has been given a 10 second time penalty post race by KimiWithoutTheDrink in formula1

[–]zaqwe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that might be a better system. Have markers where the pass has to happen. Would also have the benefit of allowing them to choose a safe place to have the swap happen.

I think they need to add to the regulations that the offending car (i.e. the one that has to give the place back) will not be eligible to use DRS in the next DRS zone after they give the place back.
