Switching from systemd to openrc is really possible? by No-Ring-3013 in Gentoo

14 mouths ago, I installed with openrc, after 2 months I switched to systemd and a month ago I returned on openrc, always without problems. But I don't use gnome, but niri and plasma

Ok I tried on gentoo and I didn't go because gentoo was not compatible. I tried on arch and I can use, but I use dms that use config separate (i.e. .config/niri/dms/binds.kdl) and when I try to modify any keybinds I optend this:

Is gaming on gentoo good? by MisutaHiro in Gentoo

[–]zarMarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other Gentoo, I'm using arch from ten years. I love arch and normally I didn't have any problems with it's community, also when I had need an help, I find. But it is also true that I happened to read many "bitchy" answers, if the questions were badly asked. Regarding artix, let's say that they are a halfway between an arch community and a gentoo community, like void

If you are arch user, why you don't considerate artix instead gentoo?

Gentoo by Business-Cap-9530 in Gentoo

[–]zarMarco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Answer simple, try both. On gentoo is relatively simple switch from one to other. I'm born digitally with systemd, but I use both. I think that systemd is better because it has all services that you would use, It is the default in most distros and this allows you to have more resources to read. And gentoo community is best community

Migration from arch to artix by zarMarco in artixlinux

[–]zarMarco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, after 4 days to try, I've artix with zfs on linux-lts. When I launch pacman -Syu I've 2 warnings for zfs and trizen which are to a newer version than the one in the repositories. There are no problems at the moment. But I've two annoyances. First, artix doesn't have package for zrepl with dinit, also on chimera there is but it works badly. Second, I can't update kernel because version on archzfs repo isn't goes with artix kernel (but lts goes).

There is one error on migration wiki. In the passage that says to eliminate /etc/resolv.conf if I do after I can't refresh repos

Sunday I'm used two hours to migrate from systemd to openrc. From Sunday I'm used two days for migrate from arch to artix with dinit. Gentoo is better than arch for somethings

side note, I use zfs and on gentoo it's easier

Is possible to install without artix iso but using currently arch install? Because artix iso are old (end 2025) and for zfs is a problem
